I dont know what the new season is like, but you didn't miss out on anything last season, toblix. It only got marginally better when they focused on some simpler, more basic plot stuff (an episode only about three characters on a simple supply run was my favorite), but as a whole I thought last season was pretty dull and oh so full of awful, insane stuff happening in that town. Not as god-awful as the second season, though..

I keep putting up with the very mediocre quality of this show. It somehow always manages to hit just enough highs to drag me back to it every week..

I just watched The Lone Ranger and it was AWESOME.

I also watched Man of Steel, not so much.

Huh... Ok, I'll check Lone Ranger. But yeah, Man of Steel, beyond the opening awesome sci-fi explody war stuff was over an hour of Superman deciding to stop being a whiny little bitch and actually be, you know, Superman. Which isn't a conflict at all, he WANTS to be Superman, he just... doesn't do it. Stupid Kevin Costner.

"Clark... Sometimes, in order to protect yourself, you have to let dozens of small children die. And that's okay." Yeah, real hero material there.

My expectation for each film were greatly misjudged.

In the case of the Lone Ranger, i think everyone just has really low expectations because of the troubled shoot? or re-shoots? My girlfriend said "isn't that film suppose to be terrible" which just says it all really. The only reason i watched it was off a recommendation from a friend who's opinion i trust. Saying it was a good and well structured film, but not much else.

The film is absolutely gorgeous, funny... mostly slapstick humour but i literally laughed out loud on several occasions, it can be serious and believable when it needs to be, oh and weird... its really weird :) . Would have been a great film to see at the cinema.

Superman... i think my major issue with it was that i felt they crammed too much story into a short space of time. I didn't particularly have a problem with the events of the film (apart from how Lois and Clark meet :fart: ). It would've been so much better and believable if it was stretched out over a 12 hour television series, giving the story time to breath.

Make it a prequel series leading in to Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman :eyebrow:

The Lone Ranger... IS AWESOME!

I think the trailers did a TERRIBLE job of selling the movie. It's utterly ridiculous and weird and silly and is supposed to be. The entire thing is fully cognizant of it's own ridiculousness and tries to embrace it, which is something I had no idea about. The movie somehow got a "isn't that a really bad movie?" rep from, I don't even know where. Which is a shame because it's like Verbinski took the accidental wacky brilliance of the first Pirates and fully embraced it instead of trying to go all "serious" like Pirates 2 and 3.

It's a shame it bombed so hard, I'd have really enjoyed a sequel. Especially with that ending train sequence, which even managed to outclass any video game I've played, which includes Uncharted 2 and 3 and GTAV, as the most ridiculously over the top action sequence I've ever seen. And it was friggen awesome!

Yep, Cloudy is amazing, and the 3D is great too. Looking forward to the sequel!

The sequel is a massive let-down. There's scope for a fun take on lost world movies, but it gets bogged down with pointless returning characters and bland new ones, plus some tacked-on character reset/progression that makes Flint pretty passive and annoying. The 3D was also pretty much non-existent.

The two original director-writers only did story on this so perhaps that explains it. Mr T declined to do this one, and is replaced by Terry Crews, so perhaps he knew something.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot in 2014, in live action, with Michael Bay produced explosions.

^ I can't even imagine what that film would be

I just watched oblivion, it was really good  I've had a dawning realisation that I've suspected for some time now. I love Tom Cruise

I should totally watch rock of ages next

I finally got around to watching Tarkovsky's Stalker. Pretty spectacular if you're into slow-as-molasses paced Soviet cinema, and probably worth checking out if you were a fan of the video game.

Well, the leaked script they decided needed a little more work saw April O' Neil as a teenage high schooler, who is dating Casey Jones, who was apparently the main protagonist. Then she will meet the Ninja Turtles, who are from outer space, and there's this PMC called "the Foot" led by a certain Colonel Schrader, together causing aaAaAAall kinds of trouble!

I'm sure it'll be fine!

It's a movie about turtles who know martial arts. It is going to be stupid. It is going to be for children.

It baffles me how protective people are of a franchise that was literally designed to be the stupidest thing ever.

Because despite that it (the original comic, that is) still managed to be better than most superhero comics.

That sounded pretty confrontational. Basically: being designed to be the stupidest thing ever doesn't make it bad. U:

(I personally don't really give a shit about whatever Mr. Bay does with the property. Won't ruin what exists that I do like. Which is pretty much... the comics.)

You haven't seen the April O'Neil's outfit yet. Just like Transformers it will be a movie for teenage boys

After taking a break from my Stargate marathoning, I finally finished Stargate Universe.

So, yeah, first time I watched it: first season was okay, second season was great. This time: first season was great, second season was okay. I wonder what changed? The biggest difference between the two seasons is that the second season is a lot more similar to the classic Stargate formula: crazy shit, usually relegated to  single episode. The first season is much more unique in that regard. It's all about these people trying to survive from day to day. Maybe I liked the second season more the first time around because I was still hurting from Atlantis' cancellation. I don't know. Either way, it's still good. Just in a different way. And also now I'm sad because Stargate is still dead. Someone make them bring it back, thanks.

In other news, I've been watching Scrubs, which is something I used to catch on TV. It's quite good. Simple, funny, fun. Cool!

Have you watched the SG1 movies yet?  I'm curious to know what you think of those.

Yeah I watched all those when I finished up SG1. They were okay. Nothing outstanding, but nothing underwhelming, either. Hah. Sorry, it's been a few months now and I don't really recall my exact feelings. U:

I felt pretty much the same way, they're not great but not terrible either.

As a sort of tangent to Stargate, if you liked David Hewlett (McKay), then you might want to see A Dog's Breakfast.  It's a movie he made himself with the help of some Stargate people.  It has his sister Kate Hewlett (Jeannie), Paul McGillion (Beckett), Chris Judge (Teal'c), and Rachel Luttrell (Teyla).  It's a dark, goofy comedy that's kind of fun and has some Stargate easter eggs in it (besides the cast).

And as an extra fun fact about that movie, he used it to pitch an idea for a show called StarCrossed.  It was a sitcom about the actors on a sci-fi TV show.  Syfy (or Sci-Fi as it was called at the time) considered it but never picked it up as a series.

The new Turtles animated series is good, judging by two episodes. The one I just saw was an Alien episode with squirrels.

I saw The Comedy and it was a pretty great take on washout Williamsburg hipster deadbeats. It was a really interesting look at individuals who are so entitled and friction-free, they will do anything they can to provoke a reaction from the outside world. It was weird to see Tim Heidecker in a dramatic role, but after the first few scenes his performance won me over. Also, it features William Basinski in the soundtrack, so that was pretty swell.
