Yeah, or maybe there's a government thing for complaints or something?

When my sisters marriage was breaking up recently one of her work colleagues sent her a well meaning, but not entirely appreciated at the time 'hang in there pal' instant message. At least she said something, all I could do was speechless hugs for a while.

Update: hang in there pals.

If you are waiting for something to come through before you take alternative action Tegan, I recommend deciding on a deadline. If you can't get the wheels to move fast enough by your deadline, put your alternative into action.

It seems that your problem is inflammed with ambiguity. Get rid of the ambiguity. Do everything you can to get plan-A to happen before the deadline and if it doesn't happen, just put it all into plan-B.

Good news! I finally got a call back. I have some kind of phone interview with the insurance people tomorrow, and they tell me I should finally have a decision by Friday.

Thanks all, but I am super nervous for this phone thing and honestly think I'll probably have my claim denied. At least it's something though. Now to sleep and wait eleven hours to hear back from them. Wheeee.

I guess since I've been dealing with the (U.S.) government for the past few months for collection monies, thinking I'd be turned down at every avenue, the way I dealt with it was is just assume the worst was always going to happen and try to imagine what I'd do then since there was a lot of feet dragging on their part and waiting and I tend to get stressed when I have to wait for answers.

Good luck though, I hope your claim isn't denied.

Good luck tegan.

I just got two letters from the same credit company on the same day. First one was to inform me that because I'd failed to make an agreed-upon payment (untrue, I made the fuck out of it) I was culpable for the full amount within 7 days or legal action would be taken. Second one was to inform me of another unpaid bill I had no idea existed, on a car I didn't know I still owned, which is also due within 7 days. Meanwhile, I'm a broke as fuck student, already swimming in debt from study (interest-free thank god, yay socialism), paying off a bank loan and a credit card which I already can't afford.

So I have until monday to sort this shit... which also happens to be my birthday! Thanks universe, you shouldn't have.

Is the organization contacting you about the car a collection-agency or is it the bank you got the car-loan with?

The reason I ask is because in my experience, collection-agencies can try to collect questionable debts that may be worth investigating before you agree to pay them. I suppose the same may be true for banks.

good luck teegs. perhaps you will be surprised. i dunno about you, but i always feel like every phone call went badly.

being a rudderless vagabond is treating me reasonably well so far. I am bouncing between various friends' households and occasionally buying their groceries so they don't tire of me too fast. my $180 laptop doesn't run my usual game-dev stuff (UDK etc), so i've installed quake 2 + editor in case i start feeling creative again.

It wasn't a car loan, it was fees from a lapsed registration on a car I thought I deregistered but hadn't, because of reasons. It was also registered to my old address, and obviously phoning me or using any other form of contact would have been far too sensible so they went right to a collection agency after I didn't respond to their snail mail in the year 2013. Oh well, I sorted it out, and the other thing should be okay they're just a bit trigger happy with the threats of legal action because I guess it gets people's attention. Jerks.
