Psychonauts hate thread

Recommended Posts

What the hell? So gamestop says my copy shipped yesterday, but that I'll recieve my copy on wednesday. I don't even know how that's possible if it's 3 day delivery. I mean, even if UPS completely shut down over the weekend, I should still get psychonauts by tuesday or something.

At least yours has shipped. I ordered Feb. 1, so I doubt it's a priority thing, but my game hasn't shipped. Maybe it's a shirt shortage.

Yeah... it's weird because I've done everything very thuroughly, but I don't have it yet. I've done every mind up to Edgar's, should I have already gotten it? I ask because as soon as I go back to camp and cash in my cards I'll be level 85 at which I'm supposed to be getting an upgraded version of confusion. How can I get an upgrade on something I don't even have?

Holy crap you're a friggin high level for how far into the game you are. Anyway, Re: confusion, just play through Edar's level and it'll work out.

Can't you people talk about the game with spoiler-filled posts in a thread that's not devoted to the commiseration of people who haven't received their copy yet?!?!?!

Thanks.

Sorry, nsps, I just grabbed the first thread I came across relating to Psychonauts.

So nsps doens't read this and get mad (not that it's actually that much of a spoiler)...

Thanks, Chris. I wonder what'd happen if I did level before getting the badge. As for my level, I've done just about everything up to this point. I believe I just have one card left to find at camp, and a few figments in a couple of minds still to get. They seriously should have included a figment finder for when you're down to the last few. The controller could vibrate or something as you get closer. I missed one figment in Fred's mind, combed the place twice, and still can't find it. argh! Also, I walked the race once in Milla's mind to get all of the figments. wow, that took a while.

Probably by Ford, along with, you know, almost every other power. :shifty:
(for nsps, even though it's not that spoilery)

I meant it was one of the powers not given to you by Ford. The powers Ford gives you, you earn. This one is just given to you. Like clairvoyance or shield.

When you get upgrades before getting the basic power, it just says "You will receive this upgrade when you obtain the power" or something like that, so you just immediately get the better version.

I leveled up before I got the badge. No big deal, really. What kind of neck-breaking error do you expect, anyway?

Oh, and I walked Milla's race three times to get all the goddamn figments.

Jeez, three times, Kingz? That must have been painful. Do you get anything special if you collect everything in the game? Or is there really no point in getting every figment in every mind other than the satisfaction of having done so?

Yay, I got it today! I had to pay the UPS guy 20 Euro for shipping, though. And I thought I already paid for shipping with my creditcard when ordering at GameStop. I'll better check that out.

You get treated to an extra cutscene. In the immortal words of my roommate, "That's it?! I thought you would at least get a new suit or something." Be sure you collect everything before you leave the first part of the meat circus -- it ends after the rail slide and before the first boss battle. When you collect the last bag (the dufflebag), you should be able to see the extra clip.

Would that be a customs charge rather than 'shipping'?

My package helpfully said it was a "book" with a value of $20 CDN, so I avoided all that kerfuffle.

Gah! I'm missing one damn figment in that race and I can't figure out where it is! Am I the only one who gets a headache furiously looking for missing figments for long periods of time? :deranged:

GAH!!!!

First UPS told me that the package would be here today or tomorrow, which would be perfect since it's a holiday, but now it "might" arrive on Wednsay, and since the previous day was a vacation I will be working my butt off to compensate and will not be there for the delivery!!!! :fart::fart::fart:

I'm going to stop by Gamestop after school and if they don't have it in stock I'll cancel my pre-order and go to the nearby EbGames.

A T-Shirt would be kickass but this is ri-fucking-cockulous.

Yeah, it sucks when you miss one and can't find it, especially when it's on a big map like that one or Fred's. Exactly why they should have included a figment finder. I think I'm going to get everything once, but after I've seen the bonus cutscene I probably won't bother again. They're just too easy to miss.

Here's my story of the day:

I went out to the bank and the post office to do some of the usual things one would do there, and then I decided that I would go around and see if I could find the fabled Beyond Good & Evil (which I must buy!) in any of the stores in town. At the same time, I was going to see if Psychonauts was even available in any of the stores. Here's what happened:

First, I went to Hastings, which is this movie rental/sale, video game rental/sale, music books, coffee, junk and magazine sales superstore around here and they had no copies of Beyond Good & Evil on XBOX. Apparently, there was one for GameCube. No sign of Psychonauts.

Next, I went to EB Games, and once again I couldn't find Beyond Good & Evil nor Psychonauts. As I was looking in the bargain/used games bin, the manager had left a copy of the latest corporate memo, where it said how the "hot picks of the month" were all LucasArts Star Wars games (and Mercenaries). It described how to set up the games and all on the shelf, and then I look to my left and I see it. All Star Wars, all crap. I guess it has to do with the movie hoping that when people see it, they're so disapointed they wish there was a better Star Wars thing available to wash off the disapointment? Who knows.

I went to GameSpot, which was not too far away from EB. No Beyond Good & Evil, again, and no sign of Psychonauts. Around this time I wonder "WTF is Majesco doing?!" so I go to the front and ask if they have any of the games. Nope, they only had TWO copies of Psychonauts, which "sold out"; I'm guessing one for the shelves and one for the "huge" in-stock supply. I noticed that the staff were all women, unlike EB games where it was all guys. I thought that was interesting. I noticed that Donkey Kong jungle beat was the hot thing for Nintendo, and the box had Donkey Kong looking all bad ass and shit.

I went to Circuit City and there was no sign of Beyond Good & Evil or Psychonauts. They did have copies of Jade Empire, though!

Okay, maybe Best Buy has something! Nope, nothing at all. Lots of crappy games, though! Like some sort of redneck game that nobody wanted, so you could buy it for $10.

Finally, I saw the Wal-Mart Supercenter, which is pretty big here, and I went in and took a look around, and maybe buy some food in the process. No Beyond Good & Evil, but they did have Psychonauts. And I looked and they had at least 10 copies of the game. I look up, and a promotional video is playing for it, what a coincidence. I go look at the PC section, and they have the game on PC, too! So I think "oh, so that's where Majesco put the game..."

And then I went home. These stores are really close to each other in this small city, so it wasn't a big deal going inside and checking out what they had.

It had been a while since I've gone to these gaming stores to see what they got, and I always get the following feelings when I go:

The trip to EB Games and GameStop left me feeling like I was this skeezy(sp?) guy going to a sex shop to buy porn movies. And the stores smelled kind of funky, too.

Those things you can try games out are extremely unconfortable. It's like going to barnes and noble and not having a place to sit down and read the books! Oh, and you can only read the books by looking up until your neck hurts like crap.

The eb near me has a counter with benches instead of stand up kiosks. All three consoles have their own 19" tv. You still can't choose which games they have in the console, but it's better than standing up and playing on a 9" screen with a controller that's bolted to a piece of steel.
