This is great news, Miffy. You're so damn passionate and informed, I'd love to have you teaching my kids. Good luck!

I recently got a pair of used shorts at a Goodwill store. After bringing them home and washing them my wife found The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass in one of the pockets. I thought for sure it would have been ruined after washing the shorts but I tried it out last night and it still fucking works! Buying used clothes kicks ass!

Thats similar to how one of my friends got his copy of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

Except, while it technically still worked, you could not save the game.

Congrats, Miffy.

Man, I had a bizarre experience in Amsterdam, where I damaged my car while parking. It was the first time I got into any sort of collision or accident, so it was weird/exciting to find out how to deal with that. I feel I came out with a lot more experience because of it. I also discovered that in a crisis situation, I turn into an assessment robot.

Of course, were I living in France, I'd just have shrugged it off, gone 'oh-ho-ho-hoh!', and driven on.

The only free pirate game you need is Nelly Cootalot, kids.

On that note, which other countries tend towards using front and rear bumpers as parking aids?

Yeah what's up with that? On my trip to Paris long ago, it seemed like every car was super dinged up or parked like an inch apart. What kind of ramifications do they have for hit and runs?

And Pirate 101, that reminds me, King's Isle never got back to me about my job application three weeks ago. Fucking taunting spam bot.

I think at one point France just reached this critical mass of people not caring about their car, that you're toast if you do. In France, a car is often no more than a tool to get where you want, and it doesn't matter how battered the frame is. Alternatively, I suspect there's a weird-but-understandable sort of pride that people take in how messed up their car is. They wear their nicks and scratches like a badge. Remember, these are the people who coined the term laissez-faire.

I have now, for all intents and purposes, moved to Cambridge. It's like a much smaller, bit nicer, but just as expensive version of London.

I'm moving into a flat with my girlfriend in about a month (until then we're staying with family, ugh) and have got temp work for at least 3 months. So hopefully I'll find a well-paid, interesting permanent job soon and use my spare time making games/films/comics etc. Terry CaVVVVVVanagh and some other devs meet up every week in a cafe about three minutes walk away from my flat, so I went there this afternoon and will be trying to go to that a lot to keep myself motivated...

We love you Kroms, wherever you go. I hadn't heard of that, but thought your decision might have something to do with similar current events.

My decision was/is based on personal issues that are rooted in that sort of thing.

Although in this case I meant leaving the country, haha. :)

I finally pulled the plug on my auto-renewing Xbox Live account after not using it for 2 years.  I already feel so much better.  Time to find another thing to waste that money on.

Also congrats Miffy!

Well, if you're just sending money every month to complete strangers, I mean, I could use that to help with my rent... :eyebrow:

But seriously, congrats on getting rid of auto-renew. I tried doing that about 2 years ago. It took an absurd amount of time.

My brother is out of the brain rehab unit!

Apparently he passed all the tests, which is unheard of. There are no specialists for him to see or anything. We have no idea whether or not anything will be wrong, but on the other hand none of the obvious stuff is wrong so yay

I got a job! The grade 4 gifted class thing! I'm a teacher!

*nervous vomit*.

Oh shit you're teaching gifted kids? Good luck, hope you're trained, they are weird and at least one of them will likely be a prig.

I was a gifted kid myself back in the day. I am well aware of the weird priggish tendencies. I think the fact that I didn't pull any punches about my own experience with gifted education during the interview was a big part of why I got the job. I was positive about making it better, but did not hesitate to point out the ways I feel like the program turned a lot of students into entitled jerks who couldn't handle the real world because they were always told that they were better than it and never learned how to work. So yeah, gifted kids are going to be a challenge, but not one I'm unprepared for.

Well the F2P "Lords Management" game I worked on at the horrible company with the CEO of dubious morals and rampant nepotism just got featured on Penny Arcade.

I tried it and holy crap is that game bad. The concept sounds absolutely perfect for me, and they blew it all on execution.
