MrHoatzin Posted July 25, 2010 tm_drummer, regarding Alice falling off to her death: If I remember correctly, there was a check box somewhere in the settings that would create an glowy arabesque in the game world, as an aid in aiming Alice's jumps. A very after-the-fact kind of fix, but it does its job.
tm_drummer Posted July 26, 2010 Really? Hm...never saw that option there before...damn. Well, it's over now...thanks anyway.
Patters Posted July 26, 2010 Red Dead Redemption, I liked the beginning and the end. I'm fucking sick of the Rockstar formula though, every god damn mission felt the same. Also don't make missions only available at certain times of day. The world and soundtrack were fantastic everything else, not so much. GTA IV > RDR
dpp Posted July 26, 2010 Hello my name is dpp and I was addicted to Lord of Ultima. After a couple of months, I finally reached the last rank of the game and then I felt like I had accomplished something, so I stopped playing. Which is great, I have a couple of extra hours in my life now...
Armchair General Posted July 26, 2010 Just finished Borderlands today....no good at spoiler tag thing-a-ma-jigs so don't read any further if you don't want to.... Possibly the lamest ending to a great game EVER. I mean what?
ThunderPeel2001 Posted July 26, 2010 Beatles Rock Band - All Chapter Challenges.... finally!
Garden Ninja Posted July 27, 2010 I beat The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom on Sunday. It was shorter than I thought it would be, but still very good. I liked that each stage had a slight variation on the basic game mechanics. The last stage was the best, especially the last couple of levels when your clones turn on you, and start trying to smack you. Definitely worth picking up if you haven't played it already. miffy495 Posted July 29, 2010 That'll do it for Fallout 3. I did every bit of sidequest that came my way, but can't help feeling like I missed a bunch of things. That said, I loved what I played, so I just caved and got the three DLC packs that I didn't already have. Lots more Fallout 3 to come in the near future for me, but the core game can now go on my "finished" pile. Yay!
Asembo Posted July 29, 2010 Just finished Limbo and Alan Wake: The Signal and liked both of them. I recommend Limbo if you don't mind the 15 dollar price point.
Patters Posted July 29, 2010 I finished year 6 of Forza 3, the last proper year. Easily the best game of 2009 (for me) and definately the best deal of 2009. I'd probably go as far to say that it's the best racing game ever made. Gran Turismo 5 certainly has it's work cut out. If the rumours of Forza 4 coming out in late 2011 are true, I have to wonder if there is a new console due then, I can't see them getting much more out of the 360. Also I really approve of their DLC model: a car pack of 10 cars is released every month for $5, each DLC has a free version with one accessible car and the ability to see the others online. Grufff Posted July 29, 2010 Finished the main campaign of Dawn of War 2 today. I started playing a day or two ago and got completely hooked. The game's is really good. I much prefer having to micro-manage a couple of squads, giving them different traits/abilities and gear, as opposed the base-building etc in normal RTS games. Last Stand mode is really awesome as well, although I'm finding it tough to get that far with random groups so far. Hopefully have the Chaos Rising expansion done in the next day or two as well. Patters Posted August 1, 2010 DoW II: Chaos Rising. it wasn't as good as the original DoW II but it was still pretty rad.
lobotomy42 Posted August 1, 2010 I finished Dragon Age a few days ago. (I know, late to the party, etc.) My few thoughts are posted in that thread.
JonCole Posted August 1, 2010 I hesitate to use the word completed to describe what state I've reached in Burnout Paradise; I think finished might be a little more appropriate. I love this goddamn game, but I can't help but find it a bit repetitive without delving too deep into the social elements of the game (which I'm clearly LTTP for). So, after grabbing my Burnout license, I think it's going to get taken off the stack and placed in my game storage boxes.
mikemariano Posted August 1, 2010 I just beat Chrono Trigger DS! This game is still excellent Apparently the DS version includes a monster trainer? Why? It made me realize that if Chrono Trigger was created at any other point in history I would probably hate it. A modern Chrono Trigger would give us monster training, pointless unlockables, and endless tutorials. Chrono Cross shows us what Chrono Trigger ten years ago would have been: bloated storylines and watery polygon graphics. It's amazing how this game ended up distilling the best of the JRPG aesthetic when it could have so easily picked up more of the genre's weak points. Now for New Game+! miffy495 Posted August 2, 2010 I don't know if it would count or not, but I finished Fallout 3: Broken Steel today and then got started on the Pitt. Making some progress towards finishing all that stack of DLC.
Squid Division Posted August 2, 2010 Have you done Point Lookout yet? It's so damn fun. Easily my favorite.
Donk Posted August 2, 2010 X-Men Origins Wolverine, last boss was annoying. Good game though.

miffy495 Posted August 2, 2010 Have you done Point Lookout yet? It's so damn fun. Easily my favorite. Saving it for last, as everyone seems to say that. Also, has anyone had trouble with Steam DLC for Fallout 3? I bought every pack except Operation Anchorage through GFWL's store, and Anchorage through Steam. Everything except Anchorage works fine, but that one has never triggered. I have no radio signal directing me to any kind of anything. I kinda wanted to play that now instead of the Pitt, but here I am. Sent a message to Steam support, as I gave them my $10 and spent my time downloading everything, but figured I'd try here too. Podunk Posted August 2, 2010 I just wrapped up Alan Wake + The Signal DLC. I understand the criticism of repetitive gameplay, especially near the end, but I really only began to feel competent with the combat in the last couple of episodes so it didn't wear out its welcome. I love Remedy's awesomely cheesy storytelling, and the meticulous way in which they craft atmosphere. Loved the sound design, loved the music. I'm looking forward to the next DLC episode. syntheticgerbil Posted August 2, 2010 In the past few weeks, I've finished Chalk, Tripline, and Legend of Princess, which are all super short games by Joakim Sandberg, who did Noitu Love I mentioned earlier. Tripline I found pleasingly addictive in a mindsweeper type of way, while Legend of Princess was an amazing perspective on how to do a puzzle/platformer style Zelda game. I would love to see more like that, even if it was just a test fan game. I did not have that much fun with Chalk. I was not into the art style or the gameplay mechanics. It's strange because originally that was the only game I knew him for and had heard people rave about, when I've ultimately had the least fun with that game of what I've played by him so far, including a couple of unfinished games/concepts. Also Deathspank is beaten completely. I'm really annoyed I seem to be missing a runestone due to a bug and there are probably chests still sitting around the land locked, but I guess I'll have to get over it. It was a fun experience, well worth the money, but maybe not as amazing as I was hoping it would be. I should post more of that soon in the actual Deathspank thread. Might have to go into the steam files and find the .ESM or .ESP, whichever the offical ones are (the other is the mod file type) and make sure that's in your fallout3/data folder. That's the only thing I could think of.
beanman101283 Posted August 2, 2010 I beat the original Diablo for the first time after having it on my backlog for years. It never clicked with me before, mostly because I was expecting some deep story driven game. Once I realized it was more about the loot and character development, I had a lot of fun with it. It holds up really well, atmosphere is top notch. Now I've started Diablo 2 and it's all crazy wtf different. But I still like it. Just have to get used to it and its crazy intimidating skills trees and such.
