IIRC, chars only spawn in the small basin of calm seawater just under the waterfall. They're only around from 4am-9am and 4am-9pm, and today is actually the last day to catch one until September.

He has a freakin` theremin! It changes tone based on where you're standing in relation to it! It's awesome!

Thanks for the offer, but i already bought it from the spotpass house, you can "order" any non-special/non-customzied items present in these streetpass/spotpass homes.

I never did manage to catch a char. My town layout makes it really hard to catch anything at the ocean waterfall, or even see if there's anything there to catch.

 

I had another great experience with Club Tortimer, though. I went to the international island and was paired up with a random Japanese girl who didn't speak much English. She pointed out the tropical vista that was on sale as a "rare item," and when I didn't have the 100 medals for it, she just bought it for me. We played around on the island catching beetles for a little while and did a couple of tours, and due to the language barrier we communicated primarily through Dr. Shrunk emotions. It was really cool and made me feel good about both humanity and video games.
