I started mining from scratch (i.e. no inventory at all). Wandered off into a direction until I found a hole in the ground. Chopped some wood and started mining.

Man this stuff is fucked up. Made a small base in a cave system. But it's quite horrifying to explore the cave system. Around every dark corner could be a creeper.

I'm halfway through my health... how do I fix this under ground? No animals, no way to create bread? Any ideas?

Yeppers. Plus Purple tells me that fire is disabled, so we can't even activate them.

We (especially Jens) have added a bunch of new content to Minecraft that we want to get out asap, so there will be a content patch update next week with a whole pile of fun new toys, including a water mob and quite possibly paint if we can figure out how exactly it should work.
