Won't play on my computer :(:( Says my graphic card is not fancy enough for it.

It played Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 relatively ok.

If it can handle Far Cry 2, IT CAN HANDLE ANYTHING!

I have a Radeon X1650—the best card my AGPx8 motherboard slot would take last I updated the machine, sometime in late 2007. It uses the legacy ATI drivers.

Apparently, the goddamn card has 2.0 shaders but doesn't support 24bit depth buffer which the game requires. I wish Steam warned me of games that won't run on my setup. :finger:

That's pretty dumb, it seems like the game should give you the option to maybe scale back and not use the 24bit depth buffer (not that I have a clue what the hell that is) or simply just not care, since the graphics are, as Thunderpeel says, not especially advanced. Most stuff is just pictures wrapped onto polygonal planes.

I guess that patch'll make it do that. Hope it comes soon! I think Steam patches always come out relatively quick. I'm not sure if the game stopping bug has been patched in the PS3 and 360 versions in the meantime though, if that's any indicator of Hothead's timeliness.

Been playing a bunch on my downtime. Steam tells me I've put 5 hours into it now. There was an incredibly frustrating bit where I was stuck in the demon mines (the second time. On my way to Von Prong's) as I made it most of the way in by struggling every step of the way, then found an insurmountable boss for my level and tried backtracking out. Unfortunately, everything I'd fought to get there had respawned and I was out of healing items. Also, you can't warp from within a dungeon, so outhouses were no good to me. I spent about 4 minutes stringing major demons along with my crossbow, killing one at a time, then getting killed by the next one, respawning at the last outhouse, running back and killing the one that just killed me, then getting killed by the next one, etc etc etc. 45 goddamn minutes. Aside from that, It's been a lot of fun and I don't get what all the iffy response was for when it came out on consoles. I just wish I'd had a fucking town portal there.

You are probably doing something wrong. For quite some creatures it's vital to make use of your shield, and then return with an attack. The only real issue I had was with those huge beast in a destroyed town. Other very tough creatures are the unicorns. They are level 20, but you're not supposed to attack them until your somewhere around level 19. Just stay on the patch and the unicorns won't attack you.

I know the dungeon you're talking about, only the end boss is difficult (but manageable). To get there, make use of ranged attacks, then when they get closer use alternating attacks to rank up the damage multiplier, and use the shield at the right moments.

I just ran the dungeon at level 16, I had originally tried it at level 11. It was a total slaughter this time. I think I genuinely just stumbled into it and tried to run it while ridiculously under-leveled. The boss didn't even give me a spot of trouble. Don't you worry about little old me. If anything, people should take this as encouragement that after that incredibly frustrating experience, I'm still going back and completely loving my time with the game. After running that dungeon, Deathspank's interactions with the orphan he rescues had me in stitches.

"Fine, I'll get you a pony. But I'm getting an ugly one."

was the best line of the game for me so far. Can't wait to spend more time with this game.

If you're ever having trouble with a boss, just drop an invincibility orb. Those things are great. They're not buyable in shops so I'd save them for bosses though.

Yeah, I just got my first invincibility orb after beating that boss, actually. Also a one-use outhouse teleporter. The game is really bad about timing when to give out those special use items.

I finished that DLC dungeon way too early in the second game alternating between the hellfire from the sky orbs and invincibility orbs I had saved up so far. You then get this ridiculously overpowered weapon and outfit for completing it. I think you're only supposed to try that dungeon after finishing the game if you go by the levels of the enemies inside.
