Orv Posted December 21, 2012 Yesssss, that one. Apparently the name part of my brain stops functioning properly when half drunk.
melmer Posted December 21, 2012 Going back to the matrix (I just watched the first 10min on a random channel) one of the many huge miss steps of the sequels for me was not reusing the same actors for the other agents. I loved those guys, especially the spindly little guy, he looked really creepy. The fact that he didn't look like the average action movie hench man made it all the more effective when he starts doing super human leaps and the like. By the sequel they just replaced them with generic pro wrestlers on suits. Parppp
Roderick Posted December 22, 2012 Someone liked John Carter? But how is that--
Ben X Posted December 22, 2012 I think Thunderpeel said it was his favourite film ever.
Roderick Posted December 22, 2012 Damnit, now he's going to telephone me to explain in kind terms why I shouldn't have written that :'(
Lu Posted December 22, 2012 You know what? I liked John Carter too!
ThunderPeel2001 Posted December 22, 2012 *bring bring* Hello Rodi, this is ThunderPeel2001. I hear you're confused as to how anyone could enjoy John Carter. All I can say is, I didn't think it was terrible. I enjoyed the consistency of the characters and the world, even if I wasn't gripped. I found it to be perfectly adequate and solidly made, and never annoying. I hope that explains everything. Okthxbye. *click*
Roderick Posted December 22, 2012 That's what it would've sounded like, had that explanation been a forum post. Instead, I heard muffled breathing coming to a climax for a good two minutes before the line was disconnected. Yeah, I kept listening throughout
ThunderPeel2001 Posted December 22, 2012 I suspect Ben.

Orv Posted December 22, 2012 What you have to keep in mind with me is that cinema is basically where I go to just enjoy something for a couple hours. A film has to be really, really bad for it to be anything worse than an "Eh" from me. So in essence, for me, "Quite enjoyed" is maybe a 5/6 out of 10, because it's hard for me to not enjoy a movie. miffy495 Posted December 22, 2012 I thought John Carter was fun. Not great, but it was free and I enjoyed myself. Would watch again if it was on TV as I was flipping channels or something.
Orv Posted December 26, 2012 Life of Pi: Gorgeous and something else. Touching? Poignant? Entirely unnecessary? A good movie. E: Just realized what it reminds me of. Secondhand Lions.
Thyroid Posted December 26, 2012 Secondhand Lions wasn't good, though.
brkl Posted December 27, 2012 I just saw Con Air with some friends and it was goddamn GLORIOUS.
elmuerte Posted December 27, 2012 Just saw Dredd. I think Dredd and the city was better in the first movie. This Dredd wasn't as bad ass as I remember him from the comics. The city in the new Dredd was boring. The new Dredd on the other hand was more raw action, and less comedy. The thing that annoyed me the most of the new Dredd is the VFX porn, especially the 3D and slow motion crap. Also: what happened to the awesome bikes of the judges? Why is Dredd such a fuck up, he didn't get a bullet refil from the first judge?
Orv Posted December 28, 2012 I just saw Con Air with some friends and it was goddamn GLORIOUS. Man what thread did we even discuss Con Air in? Either way, another convert!

brkl Posted December 29, 2012 Today I learned about Side by Side, a documentary produced by Keanu Reeves that discusses the differences between film and digital cinema. It's available through streaming services, so I spent some time trying to track it down and see it. However, none of them want my money because I don't live in the US, so I can't see it. The film adaptation of John Dies at the End was released on streaming services a couple of days ago, which I realized today. So after failing to watch Side by Side, I tried to give money to anyone who would accept it for the opportunity of seeing John Dies at the End, but again, nobody wants my money because I don't live in the US. So that's my movie watching experience for today.
melmer Posted December 29, 2012 I saw Michael Fassbenders penis last night. I enjoyed it and id recommend giving it a little look... The movie Shame I mean. I can't say much about it without spoiling the movie as its quite a simple story. We had both completely forgotten we'd watched it a couple of hours later, so don't expect any lasting meaningful impact.
tegan Posted December 29, 2012 I just saw Con Air with some friends and it was goddamn GLORIOUS. My favourite thing about that movie* is that every action Nicholas Cage just makes the situation worse. I particularly like the bit at the end where he decides that instead of safely landing the plane in the desert, he should keep going and crash it into one of the most densely-populated areas in the country.*besides Colm Meaney and his face like a can of meat
brkl Posted December 29, 2012 Saw Life of Pi and loved it. I could watch that CGI tiger all day long. I can't believe they managed to make it so lifelike. CGI Tiger gets my Best Actor in a Supporting Role this year.
