Since in this version I no longer have to shake trees for fruit, I only about need half an hour to check the fossils, find the money rock and check the store and talk to everybody one.

 

You know you could just go to the GameFaq's AC forums and ask to buy the furniture you want? I lucky enough to get them from free from a kind user.

Also random aside: I'm still too used to the DS Lite.  I've turned off the wireless a million times thinking it's the power switch.

Man, today is a weird day in my town.  Cyrus finally woke up and started accusing me of hitting on his wife, I finally got enough money to fund my second bridge, and now everyone's calling me duke.

Is there a limit to the number of flowers you can have in your town at once or something? I water mine every day, but some of them seem to be disappearing even though I don't think they were even wilted the previous day.

That's weird, mine has a ridiculous amount of flowers and they never seem to go missing, then again I have the keep the town beautiful ordinance and I almost never have to weed or water plants.

 

I've even seen villagers plant more flowers, have you seen yours do that or is it an ordinance thing too?

If you use the keep the town beautiful ordinance, do you never have to water the flowers, or do you only have to water some of them?  Most of the other daily tasks I'm ok with doing, but watering flowers is so tedious.  Sometimes I just want to run through them all so I'll be rid of them.

You only really have to water the ones that are wilted. You can water the other ones and it will keep them from wilting the next day, but if you have a lot of flowers, that tends to be more trouble than it's worth.

 

But yeah, I think the keep the town beautiful ordinance means that they just won't wilt, although I've never used it so I can't say for sure.

 

My town is definitely getting overrun with flowers. I want purple, black, or blue ones, but I also am tempted to destroy all the other ones.

I assume you can pull up flowers and re-plant them like in Wild World (I haven't tried yet)? If so I think I have some purple and blue flowers that you can yank from my town.

You could just visit the island and fill your box with flowers from a minigame island.

 

Unless I forget like last week, I'm going to spend a million bells on turnips and hope for the best, it's kinda scary, but at this moment it's probably better than visiting the "bug island"?

Damn, the game is starting to lose it's luster for me too...

 

I've completed the Happy Room Academy challenges and I have all the fossils... I still need to pass a final Gracie fashion check, but what else can I do? I want to catch all the bugs and fishes and there is a room I can even decide on how to decorate, but when day after day passes with nothing happening in the game? It really loses it's charm. 

 

There are villagers I like and would miss, but their "AI-ness" is showing... I dunno, maybe I just visit the stores each day and see what happens?

 

I also tried the turnip thing and it seems SO dumb! You can't stack them well, so you can spend so much time just getting them! Joan LEFT before I ran out of money to buy them... I was also out of room to store them... How do people make money with them? It seems so annoying!

Any idea what your total playtime is at this point?

 

Maybe there are some fun ways to extend the life of this game by exploring more of the multiplayer aspects. I've sent a ton of letters to all of my townsfolk in the hope that some of them eventually move away to my friend's town and show him the letters. That and trying to give them weird catch phrases that will maybe catch on in other towns. Also, I think you can use the stopwatch to set up little competitions when multiple people are in town since it tracks the total bugs and fish caught for each player. Throw in some pitfall seeds for each player and it could be pretty fun.

I've been playing it since the day it was released in my country every day, can you play with strangers from other countries or do they have to be local? Since the game has been out for so long, I don't really see any of my friend's gates open anymore.

 

I think if I really get tired, I'll try to time travel a bit and just complete the bug and fish collection. :|

Got a third bridge now and Club LOL has just opened up.  I'm really enjoying coming in each day and discovering a new thing.  I just wish I had more time to spend in it.  Maybe once I hit Tanukitsune levels of play I'll get sick of it but for now it's still new enough to me I'm having fun.

Dude, I'm like right where you are. Club LOL just opened last night, I got the shoe store last week, second floor of the museum a couple days ago, and Able Sisters store is under construction again (for Gracie I assume?). Also just started getting silver tools and they are pretty sweet.

Sounds like you're further ahead than I am.  I don't have those last 3 things you mentioned.  And the only silver tools I have I either bought from someone else's town or was given the item (thanks tegan!).

Ah, well that is probably only because I have cleared out the inventory of all of the stores every day to move that along a little faster. Also, if you haven't donated any paintings (which can be a real bitch) there is no way to upgrade the museum and get those silver tools. Just got my third painting yesterday and that is only because I've looked them up online to make sure I'm not getting a counterfeit.

All the paintings I've gotten have been fake so far.  I've considered looking them up before buying them, which is something I'd normally do in a game, but this time I'm going to play it straight.  Since only play the game about 30 minutes or less at a time, I want it to unfold at a slower pace than I would normally take so it will last longer.  I don't want to rush ahead and run out of interesting stuff.  Although I do admit I get kind of jealous when I see all the amazing towns other people have created.  Gives me something to look forward to though.

I see where you're coming from with wanting to stretch it out since this game is an awesome experience. I've also considered playing it straight on the paintings but when I realized how many there were (26) and how there is only a 25% chance of getting a correct painting each week that would mean it is likely to take 2 years to get them all assuming you catch Redd every single week during that 2 year period. And I'm not sure if paintings repeat or not which would make it take even longer if they do. I felt like condensing that down to 6 months was still pretty reasonable for me.

I'm also starting to feel a little weary, but according to my system clock I've played for 356 hours, which is completely unheard of for me.

 

Also, villagers will start selling you paintings too. You can't tell if they're fake or not when you buy them, but they have a good chance of just giving them to you for free for no reason.

Argh, I really hate the paintings thing, I haven't seen Redd in ages and the last time he had nothing but fakes. :|

 

I was lucky to find someone who let me into their town to trade turnips and today I convinced a cute mouse to move in... which is weird since I'll probably never talk to her.

 

What I liked the most about the game is the fishing but the ones I'm missing are so hard to catch, it's getting annoying.

 

The thing is, I'm pretty sure I've played this much more than the previous one, the last one I quit after I finished paying for my house, but as I run out of thing to do in the game.... yeah, it's getting harder to play. :|

I'm apparently terrible at fishing.  The last few times I've been to the island, I haven't caught a single shark or shark-like thing.  I caught like 50 sea bass though.  I think I prefer the bug catching because most of the time I can see it's a new one before I attempt it.
