Well, I'm still broken up from my fiance, but I'm going for a trip to Los Angeles on Friday for two whole weeks! I've got some friends out there and I'm really excited about going... AND I'm also going to this year's Twin Peaks festival in Seattle (or thereabouts) while I'm over there, where I'll see even more old friends.

Exciting stuff!

My theater is running a midnight show of Fight Club, and tonight I got to be the one to put the print together. Unfortunately, though I was keeping an eye out, I couldn't find any frames of pornography inserted into places in the film aside from where it was obviously placed as a joke. I had to think long and hard about whether to add a couple of frames myself, as we have a movie with some pretty intense sex scenes right now which would be ripe for the picking. I'll leave the conclusion of my dilemma open, but regardless I'm stoked that we're running a midnight of that. Should be a good time.

All told, I'm absolutely loving my job right now, just very happily resolved a fight with the girlfriend, and have booked a trip out of town a couple of weeks from now. Life is good. The only thing that I'm not getting to spend as much time as I'd like on, sadly, is the games. Oh well. Priorities are what they are.

Good to hear things are going well.

Re: Fight Club, wasn't there a little frame snippet of porn at the end? Can't remember if it's pre-, during, or post-credits. Maybe during that final shot. Not watched that film in a while, a midnight showing would be something special.

Things are trundling along for me. Currently writing some video game-related articles - damn fun to work on, but I had to turn down payment for them, which was a bit of a shame in retrospect.

Yeah there is. I count that one as an obvious joke though. Actually, two years ago Midnight Fight Club at the theater I now work at was the first date I had with my girlfriend. Midnight Film Fest is always an awesome time.

That's awesome. I think you should not add porn but see if you can find some frames of like a Hello Kitty movie or something and insert them in there.

Thanks Wrestle, funny you should say that, it's actually a 1980 Honda CB650C. Less of a crotch rocket and more just old school class. I love the look of hondas from the 70's/80's.

What happened to yours?

I "parked" it in a ditch behind a farm, with the aid of pitch black lighting conditions, a light drizzle, and a thin layer of cow shit all over the road at a sharp right-hander. :owned:

Seeing as I've a wife and three kids, I decided that it probably wasn't the most sensible vehicle for my daily commute after that. So I sold it.

Any tips for someone new to the game? So far I've got:

- Watch out for rain

- and poop

Stick to well-lit, well-surfaced and well-trafficked main roads.

My motorcycling career met its end on an unlit, single-track back road, which was a shortcut cross-country that only saved me a couple of minutes compared to using the main roads.

In short: don't be an impatient foon.

Just got laid off at Cisco. My manager said 1300 others did as well ;_;

Not sure if I'm glad or not...wasn't too happy w/ the project I was working on, but the job market is, well...

I just got back from Cheltenham, after 2000 trees festival and visiting my uncles shop (seven oaks sound and vision), had a pretty good talk with him just about general things, i.e. music, games, family, among other things; awesomely he offered to see if he could get me a part time job at the Manchester branch, which would be excellent if he could. It's really weird how seeing a member of your family who you haven't seen for about 13 years (particularly as I was only about 6), yet you can get on with them the most, due to having so much in common.

Some of the best bands were: Exit Ten, Succioperro, dananananaykroyd, Fightstar, and Charlie Barnes. the hangover is definitely worth coping with due to these bands.

I know exactly what you mean...

The first time I saw my older cousins since being a little kid was in my late teens and, naturally, being a teen geek you're paranoid about what people will think of you.

What was weird was not only did we just generally get on really well, we were (for example) actually listening to a lot of the same music and even liked the same tracks! That really blew my mind. :woohoo:

Things got really bad at home with the Alzheimers thing with mum, (from Dad not understanding at all and shouting a lot, the campsite they run causing so much stress that she couldn't remember anything from one minute to the next). Dad fell out (as he is wont to do) with some long term friends who helped them out at the campsite, and my mum was about as upset as I've ever heard her. It was a hard decision to make for me to make, so I made it and acted on it. I went and picked her up and brought her to Leeds to stay with me for a couple of weeks, not telling dad until I was on the way.

She enjoyed the trip, and her memory improved almost over night, her stress levels dropped; then dad came to Leeds to talk to her. I think it shocked him a bit. A lot. Then that evening, my girlfriend got a phone call that her last grandparent had just died - along with her sister (car crash), another grandparent (old age), her aunt's partner (botched hospital op) - 4th familial death this year.

Then I nearly slipped a disc - this was my own fault, as I hadn't been doing the exercises I'd been given since the the last time it nearly happened. The one true shitter about this is that I can't sit down for long, which rules out finished the screaming narwhal, plus trying Dig, Loom, etc etc. This is nearly better now, but I've got to deal with the mild sciatic pain that started it.

Sooooo...not been a fun two weeks, but it's nearly over now, I've just ordered a mac mini to try my hand at iphone dev., I have an interview for an Outreach worker for Learning disabled in the next week or so; other than my back which will clear up soon I still have my health, mum is a lot happier (as it turns out so far was a good thing to do. Scary, hard, but good.) Dad is a lot happier too it seems. They're talking about getting a house in Spain.

Although it sounds a shitter, I'm still loving life - not working for 3 months has been a proper tonic. Should get a nice job soon - everyone's a winner! :)

You've an astoundingly chipper attitude for someone who's had that much crap happen to them this year.

After being all over me for a few months, the girl I love and have known for a few years has started shutting me out, but says everything is fine :/

I want to make things work, but it doesn't take large amounts of passive aggression to push me to the point of saying "fess up or fuck off" :(

Ah dude. I hope you find your way on that, nothing can fry your head like girls playing with your affections willy-nilly.

It would be easy to say finish it and try to forget, but feelings are never so cut and dried. There's obviously something going on in her head. I hope for your sake she comes round to your point of view.
