Archie Comics is relaunching Archie this summer, and wants you to help fund other relaunches: a Kevin Keller comic by Dan Parent (neat), a Betty and Veronica comic by Adam Hughes (cool), and a Jughead comic by Chip Zdarsky (WHAT).

I have more complex, half-formed thoughts, but that one's fully formed.

Weird, canceled 4 days in. Not exactly clear why either. The final update on Kickstarter was flowery but didn't contain much of any substance.

Was there that big of a backlash about them using Kickstarter?  It's not like other established companies haven't used crowdfunding.  Weird.

That is weird but also it doesn't look like it was going to make it anyway. It didn't get a big dump at the beginning, which usually indicates future failure.

This Kickstarter attempts to dig up what little is known about Polybius, the famous urban legend about an arcade game that made people sick. It's been getting good press, but that's not been translating into pledges.

Hmm, I've never heard of Polybius before.

That sounds like a fascinating story, but honestly it's not compelling enough to make me want to fund a documentary about it.  It's an urban legend I've never heard of, and I have no frame of reference for even imagining how much material there is to gather/present about it.

I've known about polybius for a long time. Whilst It'd be super interesting to watch, I doubt that there's going to be anything interesting or new that they'll uncover that I didn't already know from the things going round on the Internet.

I had missed that Prostitute Laundry was kickstarting a book, and it ends today! PL was an email memoir (true, or mostly true as far as I know) chronicling the life of an escort, sent out to a bunch of strangers on the internet. It's fascinating, and intimate and hard to know that it even existed. PL has ended now, but the writer is collecting the whole run into a book now. I'm glad it will live on in another form.
