Henroid Posted April 26, 2013 Seriously?? Do you have any insight into why? King of the Hill was pretty great. If it was in some way a cultural staple it's gonna get internet'd in some fashion or another.
Chris Posted April 26, 2013 King of the Hill was pretty great. If it was in some way a cultural staple it's gonna get internet'd in some fashion or another. "Some fashion or another" isn't really the same thing as "third most commonly represented piece of popular culture in astonishing fan art according to someone who claims to have considerable perspective in the matter." Patrick R Posted April 26, 2013 Also, King of the Hill's barely exaggerated art style doesn't seem like it'd lend itself to Deviant Artisanship. How do you really "King of the Hill" yourself? Even celebrity cameos all just looked like accurate versions of themselves.

To be fair he limited it to "on deviant art"
melmer Posted April 26, 2013 Fun you say that when I was searching for the lion king img I found a king of the hill / no more heroes fan art image.... Why Peggy had large feet. I really enjoyed that story arc
Tanukitsune Posted April 26, 2013 As a long-time veteran of the search for bizarre and disturbing fanart, there are three things you can always trust to find absaolutely astonishing fanart of on Deviantart: Sonic the Hedgehog The Lion King King of the Hill Here's a fun game. Think of a superhero and type their name followed by "the Hedgehog" into DA's search. Best one I ever got was Rorschach the Hedgehog. Um, I'm pretty sure you can type any word and get something disturbing,,,, I've searched for fanart of very obscure shows for kicks and only found the fetishy disturbing kind. Remember Braindead 13? There is a guy on Deviantart that does but draw Lance and Fritz.... and this person "ships" them. :|
Roderick Posted April 26, 2013 When it comes to fan communities, DeviantArt (and the internet at large) is a sprawling place where every fandom is catered to to crazy extents. I've seen fanart of specific Crash Bandicoot side characters. There really is no limit. I'm positive there is tons of King of the Hill stuff going around, but I'd be very surprised if it, in volume, considerably rose above any other popular work. It would be interesting to collect actual data on this, rather than subjective impressions which can easily be lead into an ever-deepening rabbit hole of specificity. I mean by that, that once you encounter King of the Hill fanart and follow that up, you're bound to encounter more KotH fanart, rather than any of the thousands of pieces of My Little Pony or Avatar (The Last Airbender) illustrations posted daily. tegan Posted April 26, 2013 Seriously?? Do you have any insight into why? I'm pretty sure it started as a parody movement relating to the other two, then grew into its own beast. In all three cases, it's because the art style is recognizable and easily-imitated. And I wouldn't call it one of the most-represented pieces of popular culture in fanart, just one of the ones with the highest proportions of bewildering fanart. Ucantalas Posted April 29, 2013 Nice. A Sega Saturn, if you will. Understanding this joke just made the Greek Mythology class I took in college completely worth it.
