Snooglebum Posted November 26, 2010 Oh yes, indeed!Snoogles, your parents should rest easy. I sent Toblix my address and all I got was some awesome games. Oh, and that pedophile. Nothing to worry about! Thompson tried to said me something, and my parents stopped short of asking for a friggin urine sample, so there's pretty much 0% chance of this happening. Well maybe your parents are on to something. I just got a PM from Toblix saying he was going to send me something that would blow me away. *sob*

toblix Posted November 29, 2010 Armchair, you're going to have to be more specific. I've spent hours trying to think of what to draw and I've rage quitted twice.
Snooglebum Posted November 30, 2010 Wow, they're going to throw a fit if you try and go outside I wouldn't be surprised. MrHoatzin Posted November 30, 2010 ...Wee one?I'm actually 4 years old. I thought that was known already? Anyone who has to ask someone else if they can give their address to a stranger is a wee one as far as I am concerned. Outsourced responsibility, boxed-in fun, arbitrary boundaries made of sheer autority, etc. I am not saying that you should man up and rebel or whatever, just that I don't really expect anyone here to bring up this sort of young-person grievance. And at 27 I don't think I am that far away from this sentiment—and yet, it feels weird to see it here. I've known some people in this* community for ten plus years now. It never really occurred to me that its revitalization with new blood could at some point bring in a generation so far removed from my experience of life. __________________ * I'm reckoning it all the way back to the Mixnmojo-Maximar days, since there is a sort of natural continuity from there to here. Orv Posted November 30, 2010 Kingz's post Young people tend to have a great innate capacity to turn me into a crotchety old man instantaneously. Snoogle and Thompson seem to be some of the few that do not do this. Hurray, maybe all of our children won't be rubbish.
Sleepdance Posted November 30, 2010 I read somewhere a very interesting article about todays youth. In one sentence, it talked about how todays youth doesn't have any revolutionary spirit in them, how they care only for there pleasure and are in general capitalism whores. Couldn't really agree more.
MrHoatzin Posted November 30, 2010 Nah, there is nothing wrong with the youth. Kids are alright.
Lu Posted November 30, 2010 I love broad generalizations about entire younger generations! Where are your revolutionary spirits, Thompson and Snooglebum?! You capitalistic consumers! What the fuck does that even mean. I haven't read the article and it already pisses me off.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted November 30, 2010 Hurrah! Number #428 on the List of Thing I Hate is people who say (without irony), "the kids of today... *tsk*". They said the same thing about your generation, about my generation, about your parents' generation... It's all horseshit. There's good and bad people in every generation. There are trends, though. I do think my generation was a lot more apathetic than the current one, so I really respect this current one for attempting to do more. And there was definitely some truth in the stories about the Oxbridge crowd (supposedly our "best and brightest", if you believe that kind of nonsense) not being lured by a chance at improving the world (as they once were), and instead being drawn towards the lucrative (and miserable) world of banking. But since the banks are all fucked and not hiring people, I guess they're having to go somewhere else now I'm sure that article was right in what it said, but there's obviously no way you can sum up an entire generation. I'll talk to Thompson, maybe we can get a small revolution going in our spare time. Orv Posted December 1, 2010 And then TP goes and makes me feel like a jerkhole. Yeah, I tend to generalize the younger peoples of this (Middle) Earth, but I tend to be right. At the very least, I don't run into many that spark any sort of non-dislike in me. (Possibly because I'm an asshole and people don't talk to me in the first place? ) But there are many, I'm sure, who do useful shit with their lives, I just don't meet them on a day to day basis. I'm more likely to meet "sk8er punks" or something of that sort.
Thompson Posted December 1, 2010 I'm more likely to meet "sk8er punks" or something of that sort. I own a skateboard. I rode it once. There's a much smaller chance of being injured when you play video games.

Though it was a good idea when I was 12. 10 years later and I've only ridden it about 5 times.
toblix Posted December 17, 2010 Kingzjester, holy mother of god! You sent me the most awesome card! Seriously, it's beautiful – it's a fucking precious work of art! I feel so stupid now for giving the impression my cards are something worth keeping. My cards are just stupid and silly child-like drawings and I can't even draw! Your card is... holy shit, it's so sweet! I'm (almost) speechless.
