Gwardinen Posted February 9, 2012 I was thinking that while watching the video. Useful it may be, but it sure ain't stealthy. You're never sneaking up on anyone with that thing in tow.
subbes Posted February 9, 2012 Augh. That thing gives me the visceral shudders. I never used to be bothered by BigDog, but Jake's disgust has infected me purely by hearing it!

James Posted March 1, 2012 Call me a traditionalist, but I was expecting The Imperial March for our new global transunity song. This got me thinking: do the robots see themselves as fulfilling a heroic role? If so, it's only natural they should announce themselves with a hero's theme. That would be pretty excellent. Somebody teach them Ride of the Valkyries.

Nachimir Posted March 5, 2012 d2D71CveQwo You just need to use the bit after the = sign, like this but without spaces: [ YOUTUBE ]d2D71CveQwo[/ YOUTUBE ] Also: AAAAAAARGH! I bet it can raise one of those front legs to pierce living things after knocking them to the ground.
shammack Posted March 5, 2012 You just need to use the bit after the = sign Thanks. I'm pretty sure this is at least the third time I've screwed that up.
mikemariano Posted March 6, 2012 FYI, watched the Cheetah video, then had a nightmare about it. It was probably more of a video game nightmare, though, because after I escaped the office building with the Cheetah's patrolling it, I ended up sneaking outside of a farmhouse. The farmer's wife detected me, pulled a knife from her apron, and ran after me. Then I woke up. I need to increase my Sneak!

subbes Posted March 28, 2012 This may not look like much right now, but can you imagine a Big Dog that can leap tall buildings? 6b4ZZQkcNEo Boston Dynamics need to stop developing new robot abilities.

Orv Posted March 28, 2012 Boston Dynamics need to stop developing new robot abilities. BD clearly has a pact with our new overlords. They supply them with the means to control and hunt down humanity, and they get Legate positions. The Sand Flea is like an even worse Bouncing Betty. Hiding in a fourth-story window? Haha, surprise jerk! Express plastique delivery.
Lu Posted March 29, 2012 (edited) Why would they destroy the unit when they can mount it with smart-grenade shells? You know, the type that knows when it has been fired through a window or door opening and then has a distance trigger. They'll equip it with a rapid launcher , one shell for each floor, it'll clear out entire flats with a single jump!! On a slightly different note: xjS-cMn8GQQ This'll be vintage robot porn someday! Lu Posted March 30, 2012 That is still really awesome. It's also appears so American to me for some reason. If I think Japanese robots, I'd think Asimo, if I think American robots, I think of something like that.
