I'm actually a marmot who also wants to be a march hare, heh. I guess you're right: throw it up regardless.

Vanilla. Orange jelly. I haven't eaten in 20 hours so it was tasty.

Went for an ECG scan today. Had to have two big patches of my chest shaved. Not amused.

Once again, great synergy with your avatar there. I AM amused.

More importantly though, did anything come out of the scan? Hope it's OK.

I may be closer to job and restoring regular monies... I got a gig doing a few miniboss or boss characters for a game based on the Dr. McNinja webcomic. It doesn't pay very well at all, like below minimum wage if I factor my time hourly, but it's something to do at the moment and challenging because I don't usually work in pixel art. Not really familiar with the webcomic but they liked my art test, so there's that.

Also for some reason the IGDA chapter head is now talking to people about getting me a job when I was asking him about a certain company. We've talked a few times over beers but he's really being nice to me and going beyond way what I'd expect. Hopefully that leads to something!

I think I have decided I want to stall out for as long as I can burning money before trying to switch careers, go to school, or doing something else with my life. This time around looking for jobs, I seem to get responses at the very least but just there are no slots available. About a week and a half ago I applied to Stoic and the art director there said he loved my stuff, which made my day. Maybe when the game comes out they might want more staff. I can only hope, that would certainly be a dream job.

A game based on Dr. McNinja! Is it... is it the autorunner they tried to kickstart a while back. Because that looked awful. X: X: X:

EDIT: Actually if you're doing pixel art, then probably not. Or at least the art style changed. It was hand-drawn before.

(Dr. McNinja is such great Fun.)

Dr. McNinja is great. Or was great at least, haven't read it in years.

But anything that features Irish ninjas riding velociraptors is good in my book!

I think it is the same, or at least it's some version of the same project. I actually have no idea how it plays honestly. My friend who was a backer and told me about the opening said that the gameplay style changed somewhat but I am not sure to what.

The art is definitely much different than what is on the Kickstarter video. I guess that was placeholder art or a different artist? The sprites the art director has been making are very nice.

Heh. Well work is work! Besides, the video was really early, so I'm sure it's improved. (By "looked awful", I really just meant the gameplay, for the record!)

Although I could've sworn that Kickstarter failed. I guess they just kept going anyway, like every other failed Kickstarter?

Seems like most don't take their Kickstarter failing as a sign that people may not want their game or not.

The only thing changes is whether the devs will eat noodles for six months or not.

Yeah it was fine. I just had some blood tests and an ECG done to make sure I'm in all right health, which I am apart from slightly elevated blood pressure which is why I've just signed up for 12 months at Virgin Active:campbell:

YEARGH finding a new apartment is the worst thing. At least this time I'm not going into San Francisco completely lacking knowledge on what is and isn't a good neighborhood. I also now know how the public transportation system all works.

BUT.

I STILL HATE APARTMENT SEARCHING.

):

And this time I'll have to live alone, unless I want to chance it with some people looking for roommates on craigslist. I... don't really want to. But I also can't really afford to live alone. Gahhhhhh.

Finding an apartment is just awful.

I remember looking for an apartment for my second year of college... while I was back home at the other end of the province. My "searching" was basically just my one friend who lived down there and was going to be joining me actually going to see the places and talk to people, while I did what I could by checking online but couldn't actually do anything because I was too far away.

I am terrified of the thought of trying to find a place in a brand new city I've never been to before, the thought terrifies me.

I found this and was super stoked to learn that I'll finish paying off my student debt in ONLY NINE YEARS!!! if I keep going at the rate I'm paying now.

http://www.unbury.me/

If I could keep this apartment that I'm in now with my current roommates (i.e., keep my current rent), I could increase my payments by a lot and pay my debts off in like four years instead... But whatever new apartment I get is going to be more expensive than this. Possibly by a lot, depending on how desperate I get.

Money sucks, guys.

Ok my saturday sucked. First they didn't deliver the grill that I ordered (which they will probably fail to diliver the next few days because I'm at work). And then I figure out today that there was an Idlethumbs stream saturday evening which I could have watched.

My wife and I are having our baby tomorrow. I'm really excited, nervous, and anxious right now and finding it really hard to concentrate on anything. I definitely feel more prepared this time around since there is so much more stability in our lives now than when our first child was born but I am really dreading the whole hospital experience. I hate knowing that we have to have a baby in this type of environment because of circumstances that are out of our control.

With our first child, we decided to go with a local birthing center and midwife instead of the hospital and doctor situation. My wife has a degree in family studies and human development and we both decided that we wanted to have our baby in a comfortable, homey environment instead of a place full of sick people. Unfortunately she went past her due date and we had to go to the hospital anyways so she could be induced. And from there, as is common with inductions, she had to be rushed into an emergency cesarian. It was just a whirlwind of craziness after that and we were treated like shit by the hospital staff because they assumed we were just stupid kids (I was 24, she was 22 at the time). We were adamant about not giving our baby formula or a pacifier but the hospital staff just kept badgering us about it and were quick to remind us of that option when she was having a difficult time establishing breastfeeding . It is quite a disgusting business they run. To make things even more difficult, I was in my last 6 weeks of college and was trying to finish my classes and look for a job. Luckily that all panned out just fine, but the job I found was in Phoenix (we lived in Tucson) so we had to pack everything up and move before our daughter was even 6 weeks old.

So yeah, we have much more stability now and a better idea of what to expect. But man I am nervous as hell. I feel so bad for my wife that she has to go through another cesarian. It is a pretty major surgery and she will be in quite a bit of pain for awhile. At least this time I won't have to do homework in the hospital in between diaper changes.

Sorry for the long, rambly post.

Go, family Zeusthecat! Remember, you guys are far more experienced now, and under a lot less pressure.

That will put you in a better position with any over-zealous hospital staff and should make it easier to remain both calm and insistent if needed.

If it's a boy, will you be calling him Lucas?

Not a bad idea! We have had multiple ultrasounds that all confirmed it's a boy so assuming that holds true his name will be Nolan.
