DanJW Posted July 5, 2007 http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=3548&s=l WTF? He looks about 12! Hitman: Agent 12 & 3/4 Shoulda bin diesel
BigJKO Posted July 5, 2007 Maybe this'll end up being great, but that trailer doesn't exactly make excited about the movie. There were a whole lot of good shots littered in-between, but all that "divine" bullshit text and "fancy" silver logo flying around just turned me off. Made it look like "xXx" or something. Thrik Posted July 5, 2007 Not to mention the fact that Hitman is in actuality a cold, calculating, killing fuck.
elmuerte Posted July 5, 2007 yep.. looked like crap
brkl Posted July 5, 2007 Timothy Olyphant looks 12 to you? Just say no.
Redwall Posted July 5, 2007 I'd rather have Olyphant than Diesel, even if he does look too young.
miffy495 Posted July 5, 2007 He could definitely use some world-wearying. 47 is supposed to have seen a lot of shit, yeah? Olyphant is simply too and pretty (in the trailer, at any rate) to pull that off. He looks like a green agent. Maybe he is green in the movie and it'll all work out, I dunno. Doesn't look like the 47 I'd expect, at any rate. And yeah, what's all this crap about bringing peace? Ok, so he usually only kills total scumbags who deserve it, but he's still killing a lot of people, right? Like, for money? As his job title implies? Peace? What? Ginger Posted July 5, 2007 Don't see why anyone thought this needed to be made into a film, it's not like there aren't a score of Hitman movies out there and everything that made the game great will not translate into a movie.
elmuerte Posted July 5, 2007 vinnie jones or jason statham would have been better for that movie
ysbreker Posted July 5, 2007 I'd loved to see a full cgi movie instead of real life action. That way you don't have to find the right actor, and it would be neat to have a mature cgi movie. Or something
brkl Posted July 5, 2007 47 is supposed to have been grown in a damn vat and can't grow hair. I bet he has skin as soft as a baby's bottom.
Thrik Posted July 5, 2007 Here's your hero of peace!!!!!
brkl Posted July 5, 2007 It could be just marketing. I actually think they may have followed the original, wholly crap, plot way too closely. Why would you even make a movie based on Hitman? It's the killer gameplay that makes the game (well, the newest game at least) great, certainly not the horribly cliched sci-fi plot.
DanJW Posted July 6, 2007 OK, as guess this might work as a prequal, of sorts.
vimes Posted July 6, 2007 The only Agent 47 movie that could ever be brilliant would be one about a guy trying to get a better understanding of a shadowy, legendary figure, only to experience first hand why it acquired the status of a legend in the first place. It would be a bit like Zodiac in that the main character isn't Agent 47 but someone who happens to make the link between the different cases in which 47 is involved. After realizing that a large number of case leads to a same 'person' he would try and track this person's origins down ... only to be killed by him in the end, in a non romantic way. With 47 never really knowing who the guy is ... and his death being meaningless.
miffy495 Posted July 6, 2007 Isn't that pretty much the plot of Blood Money? In the cutscenes, anyway. Never made it to the end, so I don't know how deep into the whole thing the journalist goes, but that's how it seemed to be heading to me.
vimes Posted July 6, 2007 Mmm, I wouldn't know I'm not even through the fifth mission in Blood Money.
Thrik Posted July 7, 2007 Having thought about it I think the Consolevania guys probably got the best rendition of how a Hitman film should play out. Skip to 23:20 to remind yourselves.
DanJW Posted August 6, 2007 Ooh, I just finished Blood Money! Fantastic game, just as everyone said. The "bonus" mission at the end is a nice payoff too. Replaying now, trying to get Silent Assassin on all Pro missions. It occurred to me that when playing for Silent Assassin, Blood Money is really a puzzle adventure game. I know I'd probably be lynched for saying that on adventure gamers though. Anyway, the game oozes style, especially the vegas levels, and I absolutely love the intro movie with the tree and the crows and the grave (nicely in keeping with the superb roses scene in Hitman 2). I've got a nasty feeling now that the Hitman movie will completely miss the mark in terms of style and atmosphere And this ultimately, might be the problem with all games-to-film. brkl Posted August 6, 2007 Hitman is basically Myst where you can blow someone's head off. Hey, how did you do the wedding mission? I stopped playing there, I really didn't like the Mississippi missions. I have Silent Assassin for all missions up to that one.
DanJW Posted August 6, 2007 Ah, well After the usual "get guard disguise", I poisoned the wedding cake and dumped the grooms body in the nearby box. Then I headed up to the attic and pulled the power, which stops daddy from watching TV. I had a few unsuccesful attempts at pushing him off the balcony, but there's always a guard there and also the entire party below sees you Eventually though the guy gets pissed off and goes all the way outside to the guard's shack to get a bucket for some reason. Never did find out why, beacause at that point I pushed him into the swamp. Gatortastic! Yeah the mississippi missions were my least favourite as well. You should definitely keep playing though, as the next batch is Las Vegas, starting with a really tricky but fantastic casino level.
toblix Posted August 6, 2007 Damn it! I loved this game to death, and then for some reason I stopped playing on the paddle boat. Should I totally go back and finish it (if I can find the save games)?
DanJW Posted August 6, 2007 You totally should. Even if you can't find the save games, all the missions are worth replaying anyway.
Kolzig Posted August 24, 2007 http://media.movies.ign.com/media/499/499143/vids_1.html There's a new trailer out of the movie.
