Roderick Posted February 1, 2013 I have a six year old Skies of Arcadia Legends save that begs to be continued.
elmuerte Posted February 1, 2013 Looks interesting... I really shouldn't put more games on my backlog, but if anyone's up for a 4 pack, I'm (video) game.
Tanukitsune Posted February 2, 2013 Now I remember why I really love this game, one of my main complaints with other racing games is that they always seems to assume you have mastered their "basic techniques" they never bother to tell you about, but in All-Star Racing, it's not just racing, it has special challenges that concentrate on these special techniques. I always felt that these special challenges make you better at the game and more or less teach you the techniques you'll need to win races, by mastering boosting and drifting challenges I actually feel like I know how to play now. Oh, by the way, it seems that while you can attack in All-Star mode, not everybody has projectile attacks, some just attack everything in the area next to them. melmer Posted February 4, 2013 I've got like 134 stars now i think, without grinding much. But i've kinda hit a brink wall and i'm going to have to go back and see if i can get some 3 star race wins. The career mode adds an expert 4th star to every event when you get to the mirror tracks. i've 4 starred all the ring races with samba de amigo, and 4 starring the tank battles shouldn't be to much trouble I've started playing through the tournaments on hard, and the game has really clicked with me. Its really good! All the medium and hard tracks that you unlock are excellent, and the final track wouldn't be out of place in f zero
Tanukitsune Posted February 4, 2013 Jesus, I gave up at 107 stars, then again, this is practically the only racing game I can get into and I'm pretty rubbish at all the other ones.
melmer Posted February 4, 2013 I'm on 138 now there's a character unlock at 140 that I'm striving for but then I think ill give up. When you complete all the championships you get an Xbox avatar racer, so I'm been driving around with my plant vs zombies mask on I think a Daytona car is unlocked at 160, but I think it'll be very hard work to get there
twmac Posted February 5, 2013 Man, you are ruining this game! I got through to unlocking the 4 star difficulties and beat most of the championships and thought I was doing well...
melmer Posted July 4, 2013 New character from company if heroes 2 And it's 75% off on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/212480/?snr=1_7_15__13 EVERYONE SHOULD OWN THIS GAME
elmuerte Posted July 4, 2013 I bought it, but it's really crap to play with a non-xbox360 controller
melmer Posted July 4, 2013 EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A 360 CONTROLER
Justin Leego Posted July 4, 2013 Oh man. I need to consider this. Surely it's going to go at least as low during the summer sales? Is there an Idle Thumbs Karting Krew? Regular race night? If not why not? El Muerte what sort of controller do you use?
elmuerte Posted July 4, 2013 I've got a Thrustmaster Dual Trigger Force thingy. It's a Direct X gamepad (also works on PS2 and PS3), not an XInput gamepad. x360ce often helps, but I've been unable to get it to work with this game.
tegan Posted July 4, 2013 EVERYONE SHOULD OWN A 360 CONTROLER I tried to find a wired 360 controller a while back for Nitronic Rush, and they're virtually impossible to find in stores now. I tried the Wii U demo of this game back when the console launched. I thought it was pretty good (ie: better than Mario Kart), but not quite enough to sway me to buy it. SecretAsianMan Posted July 5, 2013 Apparently it's free to play this weekend until Sunday at 1 PDT. Guess I don't really have an excuse not to at least try it.
Roderick Posted July 5, 2013 Yeah, and should you buy it, it's less than 7 Uro's. Don't have a lot of time this weekend, but tempted...

As for me, I really wish that MotionInJoy didn't totally eat Logitech's bluetooth drivers. Super sad face (edit - hold on, a new challenger has appeared: the Scarlet Crush Xinput Wrapper for DS3, will try out later) Well, may as well download the demo then... brmmmm
melmer Posted July 5, 2013 The whole game is free to play for the next couple of days (i think) NO EXCUSES http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/4/4493962/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed-75-percent-off-on-steam-free
Justin Leego Posted July 5, 2013 Sorry yeah. May as well download the whole game and tan it over the weekend thinking about how cheap it is. You get my meaning.
elmuerte Posted July 5, 2013 ok, after slamming the car door on my dick for 6 hours straight I finally managed to get my gamepad working in a usable way with the game. gamepads were so much more usable before XInput popped it's ugly little head.
elmuerte Posted July 14, 2013 Goddamn those challenges are hard. For boost, drift and 'vs ghost' I pretty much always have to go for the easiest difficulty, and I barely make that. The normal race and normal vs I can usually beat without too much trouble of medium. The tank part I can easily finish on hard.
Tanukitsune Posted July 14, 2013 Ugh, the ghost ones are so broken... the ghost races perfectly even on easy, you have to memorize the track, use shortcut and be almost perfect yourself.
Roderick Posted July 17, 2013 Yesterday it was late at night, so I thought to myself: why not do a singleplayer challenge racey thing where you have to eliminate the competition (three hits and you're out) at gold star level. Something amazing happened: I failed and failed and failed (never even reaching the finish line), but I kept pressing on. For some reason it didn't get frustrating, but more enticing to try again. I think the reason is that there are so many variables in terms of positioning and pick-ups that I felt I always had a chance at improving just by getting a good run. Damn thing took me an hour, but when I made it, it was a glorious thing. Then it was the middle of the night and I had to sleep, and slept super poorly because of the excitement. Damn Sonic. Extremely fun and challenging game mode though! And I can guarantee that I am now a boss at that level. I know all the boost spots.
Justin Leego Posted March 14, 2014 Hey, let's have a Racing Thumbsformed night again soon! Loads of us have it, and I assume loads of us don't hate good games.
