Game stores - putting good games up front

Recommended Posts

Today I was looking for new DS games. The store had several rows fronted by Battles of Prince of Persia and King Kong. I couldn't help but move those to the back of the row, giving full frontal exposure to Meteos, Advance Wars DS, and a copy of Electroplankton. It's something I do almost always.

Are there other compulsive store shelf rearrangers out there?

Not that compulsive, but I will occassionally get a fit of righteousness induced by that ugly Fifa2006 cover (you know, with the extremely ugly dude opening his wiiiiiiide mouth at me for no reason at all?) and totally bury it beneath all the good things I can find. For example, Meteos, only recently.

I usually just arrange stuff back in the proper order. Like if there's a random copy of something two rows above and 5 feet left of all the other copies of it, I'll put it back. I've been asked if I worked there on multiple occasions. But with stuff like Psychonauts and back with Grim Fandango and whatever other classics of the time, I'd sprawl those suckers out as far and wide as they had copies.

I met a guy yesterday who kept putting Psychonauts on the best row in the store, but his manager kept putting it back. *sigh*

As much as I like sokoban I don't rearange games, then again I mostly buy my games online. The stores I visit don't display games very well in general.

Ditto, only I put Psychonauts on top of pretty much everything. (Well, as much as the 5 copies at my local Best Buy could cover).

I did exactly that last Tuesday when I was looking the game shelves at a local store. Too bad that they have such low amount of DS games in stores around here. That's because the Finnish Nintendo importer Amo Ltd. sucks ass, they are doing a terrible job with importing and advertising.

All the games in the store I go to are always just arranged in alphabetical order for each system. Seems logical, so I don't mess with it.

That's a missed revenue opportunity on your store's part.

It's just an EB. Until I read this thread, I figured that was standard. I guess I just have one more reason to love my EB now.
