Salka Posted June 10, 2005 Father's Day is coming up soon, and most of you will be buying little gifts and cards as a mark of your appreciation and respect for that manly figure in your life. Those of you who have a father, that is. That's right. Some of us here have a Father who is dead. Maybe he died peacefully, or maybe he died with his body twisted in hideous pain. Whether he is alive or dead, think of your Father this coming Father's Day.
Salka Posted June 10, 2005 Mine died of accidental poisoning next week just before I leave the country. Yes I know that doesn't make sense. Yet.
Dingo Chavez Posted June 11, 2005 I didn't even know that it's father's day. I guess I could do something for my dad, but that requires elephants and monkeys, and an alarming amount of alcohol. Or maybe I could just buy him the new Van Morrison album? But what has he done for me lately? (Except feeding me, clothing me, and keep me sheltered.) Man, I feel like crap now. Salka Posted June 11, 2005 If he was dead, you wouldn't have this problem.
Lutefisk Posted June 11, 2005 If he was dead, you wouldn't have this problem. Now why haven't I thought about that logic gem before? That is the perfect solution to all gift-celebrations... Christmas do come soon...
Karimi Posted June 11, 2005 Father's day seems like a cheap mothers day ; not that its a ripoff or anything. Its just those damn mothers won't let anyone get a day of their own anymore. ...Damn feminists.

Spaff Posted June 11, 2005 Fathers day IS a cheap Mothers dayrip off. Mothers day, or at least mothering sunday, is hundreds of years old and is.. some.. part of lent or something... a day when working class were allowed the day off to go see their mothers because theyd be working every single other day or soemthing insane like that whereas fathers day was invented by Americans this century and has no real meaning. not that it matters, its nice to get your dad a present, if he isnt dead. DanJW Posted June 12, 2005 not that it matters, its nice to get your dad a present, if he isnt dead. Or even if he is. A good bottle of whisky is a nice gift for a deceased father, and you can help him drink it.
