Kolzig Posted February 17, 2005 http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/gauntletworkingtitle/preview_6118692.html The Gauntlet mythos has always revolved around the archetypal tale of four great warriors that team up to take down a great evil. Anyone who's up on his heroic narratives knows exactly how that kind of story is supposed to end: Evil is vanquished, peace returns to the land, and more. However, Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows heads off into darker and less predictable territory. The premise still revolves around four immortal heroes who set out to kill the most powerful and evil emperor their age had ever known. But things didn't end up quite as sunny as you'd expect. The four brave warriors failed. To pay for their crime, they were all crucified to a tree at the bottom of the world and left there for the past two centuries. This game does sound like fun, I've always been a fan of the Gauntlet games. And this is especially great: There's a lot of promise here that we're hoping is fulfilled when it ships this winter for the PC, PS2, and Xbox.
JimmyTheFish Posted February 17, 2005 Red mage destroyed the food? Oh no! Jesus fuck, have you guys heard the back story for this tripe? “Centuries ago, four immortal heroes set out to kill the most powerful emperor their age had ever known. They failed, and for their crimes, three were crucified on a great tree at the bottom of the world. Mysteriously set free, the heroes set out to finish what they had started, only to find that they must now save their tormentor from his own dreams and madness. Driven to grief by seven acts of deep cruelty and selfishness, the emperor seeks to undo the one that pains him the most: the murder of his lover, Cusirimay. If the ancient heroes cannot undo the emperor's deeds on their own, his mad plans may tear apart the world.” Giving hack and slash a bit much credit, are we Mr. Romero? Lechimp Posted February 18, 2005 Well the game does interest me. I mean it has John Romero and a guy who worked on a bunch of bioware rpgs making it, and it will have coop online (at least on x-box live), and coop is really what makes the gauntlet series popular. Jake Posted February 18, 2005 Bill Tiller (background art director on Monkey Island 3, and making Vampyre Story) is doing some concept art or storyboarding or something for this game. He did some character design for Guild Wars too.

lailoken Posted February 24, 2005 ... was that misspelled on purpose?... oh yeah... and what happens if this turns out to be another daikatana?
Lechimp Posted February 24, 2005 I don't think there's any way that it could be another Daikatana. Sure it could be crap, but it's gauntlet, there's almost no way to overhype it.

Trithemius Posted March 4, 2005 John Romero: You'll be able to play the six principal characters: the Warrior, Valkyrie, Elf, Wizard and two new characters: the Lancer and Tragedian. The.. what? The guy who wears masks and performs moving sagas of misery and betrayal? Weird. :|
Chris Posted March 4, 2005 The.. what? The guy who wears masks and performs moving sagas of misery and betrayal? Weird. :| It's not that weird. Bards and minstrels are common enough in RPGs.
