BigJKO Posted January 2 With the further enshittification of the entire social media landscape, I was wondering.. Is it maybe time to move back to forums again? I kind of miss the slower pace of forums.. Look forward to discussing this further with the remaining active members (0) of this forum.

Laserschwert Posted January 2 The Mojo forums are relatively dead as well. But I'd fully support the return to forums. Especially with projects to share, the character limit and fleeting interest on social media is really annoying.

Yeah, I follow you on any social media I can find you, but so often miss your posts because all the content just fades away so quickly.. (I also follow way too many people which doesn't help) For what it's worth, I will keep checking here every once in a while for the foreseeable future if anyone decides to post their projects. Especially with projects to share, the character limit and fleeting interest on social media is really annoying. I never actually posted on the Mojo forums (just AdventureGamers) what if....this is the year I register? But yes, there's a lot I'm kind of tired of with social media. I happily ditched Twitter when it got sold and I'm fine with Mastodon for communicating with the mutuals that only post there, but I don't see that getting any bigger and Bluesky is already bumping into the issues that Twitter was having from growing. I think the character limits and having to refresh the feed are frustrating too. I got really into RSS last year and that's actually been really fun.
elmuerte Posted January 2 Social media wasn't ever really about interaction, just about broadcasting. Chat systems like IRC, Slack, or Discord is more about short form. Generally quick responses. Forums, like NNTP, is more about the longer and slower form of discussion. Thinking about what you are going to say. Haste rarely, if ever, produces quality. brkl Posted January 10 If only... The only game I've touched lately is The Case of the Golden Idol, which has been terrific to play while broadcasting the screen to my brother on Discord. Otherwise I've pretty much stopped gaming altogether. Games take too long and with the kids I've so little time to settle and focus on them. But I feel a loss there. And having an online community I feel a part of.
BigJKO Posted January 16 I missed seeing all of your forum avatars! Nice to see them again. 🥰
clyde Posted yesterday at 06:56 AM So funny that I came here on a whim after years. I've fallen off of Slack, Discord and Twitter. I don't really play games any more either.
Spud Posted yesterday at 06:07 PM Games Video games Video games Video ga-a-ames But yeah I imagine a lot of people can relate to brkl. The last 2 years I've had so little room in my life to play games due to young children and study commitments bleeding well beyond work hours. Maybe in a few months the study will be over... GavinTheAlmighty Posted 21 hours ago Most my gaming time these days involves playing with my kids. It's great! I get to introduce them to so much cool stuff! I miss it as a hobby for myself, but now it's a bonding activity with my girls and it's really so fun to watch them experiment in both the same and complete opposite ways to me. clyde Posted 14 hours ago I'm considering making it a goal for February to post or comment here 5x a week for the entire month. If anyone else is willing to do it with me I'm in.
brkl Posted 6 hours ago I have an update! Not having paid attention recently, a friend of mine recommended Pentiment and what the heck. I had no idea Obsidian had gone and designed a game just for me. All I've been reading lately has been the Reformation and 16th-17th century politics, granted mostly relating to England. Still, I was stunned and had to buy it. I'm not far into it but seems interesting. They managed to make text appearing on the screen something to watch. I know Toblix likes it because he's played 160 hours of it!
