There's a great How Did This Get Made episode about Punisher War Zone, featuring Lexi Alexander and Patton Oswalt, that offers a lot of juicy behind-the-scenes info. Apparently Freddie Prinze Jr. auditioned for Jigsaw and absolutely killed it, but the studio didn't want him.
  2. I knew it! True story: my Russian neighbor told me "Passengers" was a good movie and I should watch it. Nice try, ruskie, I'm not watching that!
  3. Chronicles of cyberpunk [Release]

Well, that's really something! Congrats on getting this far! Hey I don't know if you're still taking feedback but those bazooka missiles really need impact explosions, just don't feel right without em. And how about some other font than Arial? That Arial font on grey textbox is just soooo default.
  4. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Sure did. That 60 buck pricetag on the Switch version is obscene. I'm playing Night in the Woods right now on PC and I was just thinking how nice it would be to play it on the Switch. Not that I'll buy it again on a second system. Rime I never did get around to playing on anything else so maybe I'll get it on Switch.
  5. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Picross, eh? Never played any of those, but it does look like something I could get into. Thanks for the recommendation.
  6. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

I'm not that into multiplayer games(doubly so since I heard Nintendo will soon introduce a PS+/XBox Gold-esque monthly fee for them), so Splatoon (and Mario Kart) aren't very tempting.
  7. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

My gaming was growing stale so I decided it was time to... SWITCH IT UP! I bought a Switch and Mario Odyssey last night, is what I'm saying. Still on the shopping list: BOTW Mario+Rabbids Golf Story Any other Switch Sclusies I need to be aware of? Reposting this GIF for the fourth time on the same page because we really can't have enough of it.
  8. Finished Prey yesterday. On PS4. 32 hours playtime. Started on Normal, ended on Nightmare. Here's some random gameplay bits and pieces I recorded, nothing too spoilery. As has been pointed out in this thread, the BIG CHOICES are handled well. I think it one-ups the Deus Ex games by not just introducing your options in the final level, instead you're told about this stuff early and you have the entire game to mull things over before deciding. Makes it feel more meaningful. And yes, I love how robust this game's systems are, like every corpse being named AND trackable from the security stations. Only thing I didn't like was that the pacing is a bit uneven. I thought the endgame was about to start when but instead there's another 5-10 hours of game still after that. Overall though, best immersive sim since Deus Ex!
  9. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

I know this thread hasn't been posted in in a while, but I think you'll agree it's well worth bringing it back for this. Just get a load of these beautiful trucks. Spintires: Mudrunner. It's very pretty, and pretty great.
  10. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

I was a bit underwhelmed by Dishonored, for some reason. I finished it, but it never really clicked with me. But I'm enjoying Prey so much right now it's convinced me I gotta give Dishonored 2 a chance. Arkane really knows their stuff. StealthGamerBR is a goddamn artiste. Love that guy's videos! Also Serious Sam 3 - it's alright! Played a bit of it in co-op. Hectic and fun, but I dunno if it's a particularly great co-op game. Doesn't really require a lot of teamwork so everyone just runs around doing their own thing. EYE - I didn't wanna rain on anyone's parade earlier but since it seems to have ended it tears anyway, I thought this game was terrible. Yeah, it starts off kinda interesting with some freaky level design, but then the NPCs open their mouths and nothing could redeem it. I think the dialogue is someone's attempt at humor, but it's just so cringeworthy I couldn't stand it.
  11. The Big FPS Playthrough MISSION COMPLETE

Oh man I really liked Receiver, never beat it tho. Never have I played an FPS where I felt less like an actionhero and more like just a normal, scared motherfucker with a gun. The realistic reloading mechanic drives home the point that your pistol is a cumbersome, imprecise piece of machinery, and yet it's the only thing protecting you from a swift death.
  12. Women Directors

Are Kathryn Bigelow and Sofia Coppola just TOO OBVIOUS to even mention? Probably, since I'm the first to mention them and I haven't seen a single one of the films mentioned in the OP. Except for the first half of Bad Batch, which I didn't like. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night sounds good tho, I'll be on the lookout for it.
  13. Recently completed video games

Yay! Yes, it's a very good game. I liked the roadbuilding in Cities Skylines too, but not much else about it, which is why I only played about half an hour of it, so I'm glad Freeways came along and just gave me a lot of what I want and none of what I don't want. Anyway, I just finished Road Redemption. Here is a Kotaku man, hear his tale: Then hear my tale: I played this game and I liked it. The End
  14. Blade Runner 2049

I saw it last weekend. The whole thing looks gorgeous and the soundtrack is pretty great. I liked K and Joi's scenes, and the Luv-character. I thought Deckard's scenes were a bit of a drag tho, and Wallace was pretty bleh. Overall? It's... fine. Which is also how I felt about the original, so WORTHY SEQUEL I guess!
  15. At long last, it is complete. Enjoy. https://henke.itch.io/in-search-of-paradise-2017-edition
  16. Hey folks, I'm making a VR version of my Wizard Jam game "In Search of Paradise". Started working on this early July at the start of my summer vacation with plans to finish it in a few weeks, before my vacation was over, but this beast just keeps growing and growing and the finish line is still some way off. Here's the beta version from August 4th: In Search of Paradise VR v0.4 (86MB) Works with Oculus, and kinda works with SteamVR. GIFS! The map Animated gearstick and pedals Recent developments: -Improved landscape. It has a helluva lot more rocks now. -Radio that streams online radio stations. (just like in Euro Truck Simulator 2!) And worry not, ye who still game in ye olde monitor-o-vision, I'll probably end up releasing a non-VR version of the VR version as well.
  17. Running a tad late, but... In Search of Paradise (2017 Edition) HAS GONE GOLD! Wrapped up the final things today. VR and non-VR builds have been built. Tomorrow I get up early and make a website and a trailer. Aiming for a release around noon.
  18. This probably the fastest speedrun of it so far. 13 minutes! :U 3:40 is as far as I made it in my attempt, didn't realize you should go to the right at that point, I was trying to make it up the slide to the left, which is seemingly impossible. Then I messed up and fell all the way back to the start. :| Ahahaha 6:30 is evil! Bet that caused plenty of mad flailing and setbacks to those who made it there.
  19. Youtube Appointment Viewing

Really3D shows what your favourite old TV shows and video games would look like in GLORIOUS 3D!
  20. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Thanks for the answers, miffy and Twig! Hmm yeah, that's more or less what I was expecting really. Still interested in the Switch tho. I think the main thing holding me back at the moment is feeling like I have too many games to play on the systems I already own, and getting yet another one would be plain irresponsible!
  21. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Questions for you Nintendo gamers: 1. Are there a lot of sales/discounts for Nintendo games? What's the situation like compared to Steam/PS4's Store? 2. What's the backward compatibility and HD-remakes-situation on Switch like? Any chance I could play Super Mario Galaxy on it at some point? I haven't owned a Nintendo system since the original GameBoy, but Breath of the Wild, Oddysey, and Rabbids are making this new device very tempting. Also, I don't travel a lot, but when I do it would be nice to have something beefier than my iPad to play games on.
  22. I made it to the kid on the slide. Then I fell all the way back down. All. The. Way.
  23. This thing is out now, and this is my attempt at getting over it. That narrow passage with the lanterns is the worst. I've figured out that you have to use the lanters to climb up, I even managed to get above the second one once, but then quickly panicked and tumbled back down. This game is brutal. So, beyond this and ROTTR, how's the latest Humble Monthly? Well, Scanner Sombre looks interesting, especially since it has VR support now. And Seasons After Fall looks like some solid platforming, but I'm not too interested in any of this other stuff. If anyone wants these keys, let me know: Wargame: Red Dragon Orwell Furi The Shrouded Isle
  24. Heh, indeed. Ok, Chris K, it does look alright. I'll keep an eye out once it's released. osmosisch, I don't have a Switch, but I'll definitely pick up Mario Rabbids if I do get one. It looks like a good time. So, what strategygames have I played in the year since I made this thread? Time to pass some JUDGEMENT. Skyshine's Bedlam - rolled through my first game, no problemo. Ok, but not fun enough to give it a second go on a harder difficulty. The Banner Saga - nope, this didn't do it for me. Too much text and story, and the combat is too sparse, and not fun enough. Mordheim: City of the Damned - uses a kinda Valkyria Chronicles-esque system, but it just didn't grab me. Chroma Squad - in this one you lead a crew of out-of-work stuntmen as you record a low-budget Power Rangers-esque TV show. Performing well in the fightscenes leads to more viewers and more money, meaning you can improve your TV studio and spend money on better equipment and special effects. Very cool concept. I liked this well enough to play 5 hours of it, tho I never finished it. Satellite Reign - Plays a lot like a cyberpunk-flavored Commandos. Crappy story. The missions are more or less all the same procedure of sneak/shoot your way into a place, steal something, get out. Even so, the gameplay is strong enough that I gladly played through 95% of the game, then stopped right before the final mission was about to start. Came back a few months later with friends, started over, and co-opped the whole thing through. Solid game, enjoyed it a lot! Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun - Plays a lot like a samurai-flavored Commandos. Great story and characters, and good variety to the missions. Loved it! Hard West - Starts off strong, with a good, dark narrative, but the peculiarities of the gameplay soon drove me away. Renowned Explorers - Does some interesting things, but, eh, not my cup of tea really. Darkest Dungeon - recently picked this up for the iPad so I'd have something to play on a trip. Well, I've had a couple forays into those dungeons or whatever and I don't feel like going back. It's not doing much for me, tho the iOS port isn't great either. Eh...
