RockStar Social Club - Idle Thumbs
stewmull replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I hope that the GTA IV pc thumbs wont move over to GTA V and leave us PC players -
The guys from Kane and lynch 2? They have bald spots and everything!
-
Do you think that they will take a loss on these things or do a nintendo where they make profit on every unit?

Just beat Saints Row IV, loved the dialogue between the characters and I had a few Laugh out loud moments (SR 3 and SR IV have been the only games to make me laugh). But I can't say it is better than SR 3, it feels a bit too much like a expansion. And If you have been keeping up with the development, it basically is. The starting and ending hours are great, but I feel the middle section is lacking. The loyalty missions are really good and there are some good Saints row franchise call backs, which were nice as I have been playing since the start. The traversal mechanics are good and you can get quite precise with them. The weapon skins also add extra lunacy to the gameplay. Over all I would recommend it, but I would say to just main line the story and loyalty missions, as the side activities are lacking.

Satellite Reign Kickstarter (Syndicate/Syndicate Wars reborn)
stewmull replied to Obscurity's topic in Video Gaming
The only games I have backed have been FTL and this. So hopefully it will be a success! The premise and world entice me a lot, not enough cyber punk in games!- 45 replies

So I am about 3-4 hours in and i have to say that it is a good looking game, max settings on my pc and runs around 50fps. I am playing with a xbox pad and it maps perfectly. The game is a weird one for me. I love original Star Wars and have no time for the prequels, and the game is a mix of both. I love how good the environments look, but I am on fucking Kamino, Bad! but I am cutting up storm troopers and crushing tie fighters, Good! but the troops have jet packs and there are other Sith going about, Bad! It is like the game is pulling the right strings in my brain to keep going and then cutting them off with horrible prequel add-on's. Also I thought there would be more moral choice, become a jedi/sith. But it is way more linear (story wise) than I thought it would be. I am really mixed feelings on it, I think I will finish it though. Any impressions? Anyone played/completed it?

For some reason I really didn't like the Commando game, I felt the shooting and controls were numb. The squad commands were pretty much useless as well. You would pump people full of rounds and nothing would happen, Gears of War all over again (even though it was made before GoW). Must be the only one on the internet who thinks this.

I have never played it, but from skimming the giantbomb page it looks interesting

No I haven't actually played the first one, got the 2nd in a steam sale cheap and waited until I had a new computer and a 360 pad. Might as well check the first one out too. I have to say the engine is nice, shame only two games got made with it. Im getting back into starwars again in a big way, looking at EU books... what have I become?!

il check it out, must be cheap on amazon now

Oh don't get me wrong, the GB guys can make almost anything bearable. Just look at the rollercoaster rampage quick look, actually made me cry with laughter. Its the same if you play a bad game with friends, you can just laugh at it and say how goofy it is. But I don't think I'm going to buy it and I defiantly don't think I will get immersed in the story. Also I always wanted to try the saboteur, the trailers always made it look interesting.

So I was born during the height of the point and click adventure games and was too young to play and understand them. Last year I tried to play special edition monkey island and was really bad at it, I had to use guides to get off the first island! And when I got to the spitting contest I gave up. I kinda decided then that point and click adventure games wern't for me. But the girlfriend loves them, especially all of the old Lucas stuff. So next Monday on my day off work I am going to watch the girlfriend play through the two special editions on the xbox 360. I will post back with my thoughts and It will be interesting to see if I want to try out any others afterwards.

I watched the GB quick look all the way through and the game looks garbage to be honest

It has to be Freelancer for me, the wide expanse of systems and the first time a game has reacted to my actions. The story was awesome and I think I have completed it four times. Looking back on it now, from previews, it seemed like it was going to be way more player influenced. But It is still a good achievement for the time (2003). The graphics hold up relatively well and doesn't need any mods to get it operational. The three runners up would be: 1.Test Drive unlimited - I have never seen a island modelled for driving before and the amount of cars and houses you could buy was great, Also the passive MMO aspect was cool too. 2.Kotor 2 - The star wars game that made me feel lost and alone in a huge universe. I loved the dark turn on star wars that you rarely get to see. 3.World of Warcraft - Just the exploration and loot aspect kept me going to lvl 63.
