Twig Posted November 28, 2012 I guess that IS that! Basically, my point is that if you like a dude that pulls strings for no reason whatsoever that's totally fine and has its place in games, but the way it was implemented in THIS game was pretty terrible. Which means I think we agree? Just not about the Outsider in Dishonored specifically. We do agree! Even about the Outsider, hah. I think I said it already, but in case I didn't - I'm more in love with the idea of the Outsider than I am with his implementation. I will buy Dishonored 2 day one. Yeayyyy. Sno Posted November 29, 2012 I may not have loved everything about this game, but i am particularly happy to see that it was successful.
filk Posted November 29, 2012 Yeah the game wrapped up everything really well. (except why you got gifted special powers ) The game finishing with with Emily on the throne, with Covor her advisor. The two scientists working together and chatting about a alternate energy source. everyone else is dead except Samuel. You'd just have to add a little more darkness in to Emily's already pretty fucked up back story Yeah, there's a lot of endings. Here's one people might have missed: You don't have to save Emily. If you go dark route, and kill Havelock, Emily will be hanging waiting for you to save her. I watched her fall. The credits rolled with Dunwall falling into darkness and Corvo leaving the country to do his own thing. The ending is too fragmenting to allow any sequel. I played it five times and had five (at least slightly) different endings. Seriously. I'm kind of hoping for no DIshonored 2, but rather a different game with immersive sim-level systemization but a focus on neither stealth nor combat. /dreams
melmer Posted November 29, 2012 I have since discovered there were multiple endings it was a real SHUT THE FRONT DOOR moment.
Sno Posted November 29, 2012 I recall that Invisible War's solution for Deus Ex's multiple, contradictory ednings was to find a way to make them all true. Invisible War's plot was a total fucking mess, admittedly.
Tanukitsune Posted November 30, 2012 Yeah, a game with so endings that are so different shouldn't have a sequel, at least not with Corvo. It's not like Corvo had much of a personality, well I guess he has the personality of your chaos level? Too bad you couldn't play a sequel in which the world is shaped by your decisions in the previous game, like Walking Dead, but I doubt it would be possible in a larger game. Imagine getting the good ending and playing a sequel where even the thugs respect you because you saved their boss and every is happiness and sunshine, people would hate it, but it would be hilarious. The game is called "Dishonored", Corvo lost his honor and regains it, it would be lame to just "Dishonor" him again. We need a new character and a new place, but in the same world... and the first mission should be on a whaler boat, because of reasons.
Erkki Posted November 30, 2012 i was playing Skyrim today after a hiatus and i kept thinking there needs to be a Dishonoured* Blink shout. combat would be amazing, along with stealth. oh god... Isn't there already, basically? And wasn't it even the first you learned? Forget what it's name was.
