An inevitable demise, and a cry for help.

Three red rings.

I suppose it had to happen.

So, my 360 red-ringed, as you can probably tell. So I send this question to the Thumbs: who knows how to RMA a red-ring o' death'd 360? Because for some reason, I can't find help anywhere.

Uh oh, I never registered it, I think.

It doesn't matter, do it now, they know the build date.

Or, I would, if it was still under warranty.

Fuck.

Red Ring has a special three year warranty, so chances are, unless you got yours at launch, you should be fine. Just state in the form that it's a Red Ring and it'll adjust. :)

If you've lost your faith in Microsoft, buy a PS3. I've lost my faith in Sony with my recently bricked system. I could send you all of my PS3 games, and you could send me all of your 360 games. Green grass all around.

Well, the catch there is that I don't have $400.

I hear you. I have the money, but have no desire to give that much to Sony.

It's hard to get behind any of these consoles when they're so poorly supported. But at least with the RROD they've done a better job at extending the warranty.

Unfortunately, only because that particular issue is so common. Still, better to have it then not. I just wish it covered other things as well. The optical drive on my 360 failed in January. I thought about buying a new PC instead, but considering I had just bought several games, and most of my friends have 360, I'm too invested to just give it up, so the new PC will have to wait a bit. (Damn you Microsoft and your good but unreliable product! :finger:)

Edit: to the OP, as Speedy said, there is a specially warranty for RRoD, but if for some reason you are out of warranty, repairs only cost ~$100. Not a small amount of money, but better than $400, or even the $200 for an Arcade SKU.

Yay! I finally got my Red Dead Rings!

So, are there Xbox 360 users here that haven't enjoyed their share of RROD yet?

[edit]Also, my Wii has recently started giving "Error reading disc" errors and my PC has been busted for months. Is there some force out there that doesn't want me to play games?

I haven't, disc drive and HDD failures though.

I got my second red ring yesterday, the first being in 2007. The RRoD warranty for it expires in 14 days so I guess it was well timed.

Never had the Red quadrants of death issue but my first 360 died for another reason about 3 years ago, then it stopped reading discs. The first time Microsoft fixed it, the second time it cost me 50$ cdn to fix.

This generation has been the worst for unreliable hardware.

I had a 360 that failed without RROD while out of normal warranty but still within RROD warranty. I briefly considered trying to somehow *cause* an RROD (it would still turn on but not output any video), but ended up being too lazy and ponied up the price of an arcade and swapped the HD.
