miffy495 Posted June 29, 2007 I like it, especially the return of WW style graphics, but have a couple of reservations about the controls. First off, it looked like sword swing didn't always work when the guy tried to make Link slash. I like my combat responsive. Second, I have big hands. I'm concerned they'll get in the way as I play and I won't be able to see threats that become buried under my right hand as I'm attacking something on the far left of the screen. It's not really something I'll know I'm ok with until I've had a chance to try it myself. I know the running around looks similar to how it was done in animal crossing, and I always ended up getting frustrated with that and switching to the D-pad. Anyone know if I'll have the same option this time around?
BooJaka Posted June 29, 2007 Yeah I think I read you have the option. Of course I can't find that now though...

miffy495 Posted June 29, 2007 It's all a lie... But hey, I'm over 6 foot 3. I have long legs and a large torso as well. The hands just kind of go in proportion. Back on topic, it's quite a relief that I'll be able to run with the D-pad. To your recollection, is it just movement or can you control most of the game (save the obvious stuff like controlled boomerangs) through the traditional way? BooJaka Posted June 30, 2007 Well, bearing in mind that I really might've been wrong in the first place, I'm pretty sure most things like bringing the map up and that can be done with button presses. As for the combat though, I don't know... I'll try and out.
BooJaka Posted June 30, 2007 Ok all I seem to be able to find are people raving about how great the touch screen controls are so it's possible I made all that up
miffy495 Posted July 9, 2007 CVG has a review up now. They seem pretty happy with it. Best since Ocarina are their exact words. To me, this means "damn good, but it's no Link's Awakening," but I know what they intend. Best ever and all that, right? Sounds like my fears about touchscreen control are unfounded. Still, gotta keep that hype from getting to me lest I be disappointed. Stay strong, Miffy, stay strong.
Thrik Posted July 10, 2007 Yeah, sounds like this game is bang on. I've seen a few items in my RSS reader along the lines of "this game is amazing, 10/10, etc" pass by, although I didn't have time to actually read them. Definitely going to have to pick it up. Thrik Posted July 10, 2007 BTW, anyone got any idea how long the game's meant to be, going off circulating info so far?
miffy495 Posted July 10, 2007 Well, one of the positives at the end of the CVG article mentioned about 30 hours. It's the only estimate I've heard so far, so there you have it.
SpiderMonkey Posted July 10, 2007 Wow, I loved Wind Waker's style, despite the hate it saw. It's so great to see it again and know it isn't dead. It was such fun, even just mindlessly sailing around. Totally bought.
