General Fuzzy McBitty Posted September 4, 2005 Chief Justice Rehnquist dies at 80 I was hoping he could hang in there. It is a sad day for America.
Steve Posted September 4, 2005 From Wikipedia: "He voted against the expansion of school desegregation plans and the establishment of legalized abortions (dissenting in the 1973 case Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973)) and in favor of school prayer, capital punishment..." It is not a sad day for America when someone with that voting record is no longer Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. It will be a sad day for America when Bush appoints someone even worse in his place. edit: btw happy birthday General

He was to the right... but he was moderate enough in recent times that he would vote to block any legislation that was too insane. Now George W. Bush gets to pick a second Justice... as I said... it is a sad day for America... it just depends on what your reasoning is. Also, thank you.. it's been a nice day.
