Come on and stream and welcome to the jam

Recommended Posts

Even positive-only stuff would be great! It's just, for me, a bit deflating to see someone play your game then get zero reaction at the end. It's something that happens a lot with streamers (understandably) when they're working through a large batch of jam games. Anyway, just a suggestion, it's still very cool to see people play all the (and especially my) games!

Maybe a "crit my game" thread, where the game maker can specify "First Time Game," or "Veteran," and "Gentle Critique," or "Hurt Me Plenty."

This jam was my first time making a game, but I usually prefer tough critique. While there's plenty wrong with my game because I didn't have time or know how to do something, I'd love to hear critique of what I did finish or parts that I may have thought were fine but weren't for players.

That said, I don't think it's incumbent on Phill and SuperBiasedMan to spend even more time grading all of our games in their streams. I'm grateful for getting to watch them play the game and have already learned a lot about my game's mistakes from seeing what parts they bounced off of or walked right past.

Good streams! I've barely beta tested my game A Good One, so this was enlightening. Seems I've fucked up pretty badly in teaching the game's systems since noone figured out they should hunker down when going downhill to build up speed. That's kinda the thing that makes the skiing enjoyable, and without it there's... really not much to the game. :/ Working on an update right now, will be sure to include a bit more of a tutorial in the Controls display for the next version.

Also probably doesn't help that I don't know the proper skiing-term for "hunkering down". Pretty sure that's not it.

edit: TUCK! That's the word I shoulda used.
