AMD's drivers have always been really bad in comparison, and also AMD(/ATi) cards are the only ones that have ever physically died before I actually wanted to do an upgrade. Fuck AMD.

Everything you say is correct, but that was, unfortunately, not how the argument started. It was more like: Sony's conference was not better than Microsoft's* because most of their announcements were non-exclusives (nevermind that, I'm fairly certain, they announced more exclusives than Microsoft did - unless you count every game in the Rare Collection separately! - or unless you count their backwards compatibility, which is pretty baller). I responded with the idea that consoles shouldn't be exclusively (hehehe) judged by their exclusives. Then other people jumped in with "but PC!!!!!!!!" which is a whole other can of worms. *And yeah ranking press conferences is pointless and dumb; I was originally just expressing my cemented excitement for PS4 and continued disinterest in Xbone.

Yeah I don't think it's a big deal at all. I also don't think the idling program for TF2 was a big deal at all. You could just as easily have used Sandboxie and had a ton of clients open, collecting drops. But the program was less resource-heavy, so I figured hey people said it's okay. But then it wasn't! I think everyone has the halo now. At least, I do. It was just given to me eventually for reasons I don't know.

I used something like that once for idling in TF2 for hat drops. I did it for like half a day because someone told me Valve had said they didn't care. When I woke up the next morning, I discovered that they'd taken away all my drops earned through that thing and then given a halo to everyone who hadn't used the idling program. Basically what I'm saying is I wouldn't use it.

The game is fun, the story/writing ranges from bad to downright offensive. It ends on a rape joke.

Given the generally more inclusive speaker lineup (way more women than past years, wow!), and the number of games with female protagonists, and the fact that (I believe) this applied to almost all the people with press conferences... I'm actually not surprised! I'm pretty happy with this year, in fact. Ubisoft even had a moment where one woman of color introduced another woman of color. Like damn. I know they've had Aisha for years now, but still, rock on. Too bad I care so little about most of their output these days. (Though I admit to still being a sucker for their AssCreed marketing - it always just looks so good to me.)

My main problem with long is I listen to like a thousand podcasts. I prefer variety over listening to the same people for hours on end. Giant Bomb gets in the way of me adding another podcast to my rotation. -

Why is $50 outrageous? I don't play Guild Wars 2, but I know it doesn't have a monthly fee. Fifty bucks doesn't seem that ridiculous to me. Unless the game also blocks content behind microtransactions and whatnot, but I'm fairly sure it doesn't? Then again, I don't play it, like I said. I am just asking out of curiosity here.

Every time I tried to use those shader mods my performance tanked and it just made me mad because the screenshots look so nice. My computer should be able to handle it, which makes it all the more frustrating.

Yeah and I by no means want to diminish what women go through with this because it's undeniably worse, so if I came off that way, I'm sorry. And I'm usually all for mocking white dudes for their homogeneity. But in this specific case, I think that homogeneity comes from a desire to fit in, more than it comes from a just being a white dude. Fashion is, for some reason, something people care way too much about (in my opinion), and there are people out there who will readily attack anyone for dressing "weird". Or calling their clothing "garbage" because they aren't wearing a suit and tie. I fucking hate wearing a suit and tie. If I could go the rest of my life without ever having to do it, I absolutely would. No clothing makes me more uncomfortable, both physically and mentally. But, unfortunately, funerals exist. I hope I can convince whoever might end up organizing my funeral to mandate a no-suit-and-tie rule. Assuming anyone would even go. O:

Yeah it does suck, which is why I don't do it. Shrug. EDIT: Also, just to be clear, when I talk about what I'm "comfortable" wearing, it isn't just what I'm personally happy wearing. I used to love wearing Hawaiian shirts, I dunno, they're fun, so sue me, but I stopped doing that sometime in high school because it's just asking for attention, and usually the mocking kind. I'd still wear them sometimes today, but I don't, because I know it'd receive the same kind of attention. Just because I'm a white dude doesn't mean I'm immune to this shit. EDIT EDIT: Haha I even felt the need to slip in a defense of my desire to wear a Hawaiian shirt, and that's just some text on a computer screen. This is why I'd rather just never go outside ever. This article fuckin' sucked. I dunno. It was just mean and served no purpose. Sorry, that's how I feel.

That's pretty much how I feel, too. I wear the same type of clothes every day, and I don't believe it has anything to do with my "privilege". It's just what I'm comfortable wearing. And it's very similar to what those people are wearing. I'm down with the previous Men's Fashion in the Games Industry article that was linked in this thread, which was about women (and, by extension (though not directly named), other men who don't want to dress the same way!) feeling uncomfortable dressing the way they want to dress because it makes them an outsider. But this one just comes off as "lol look at all these slobs". No thanks.

Well I was contacted by someone headhunting for Japanese companies that wanted to hire foreigners specifically for software engineering positions and at first I was apprehensive but eventually I settled on fuck yeah I'm going to do it I'm going to move to Japan. She hasn't said anything for two weeks, so I'm wondering if that's a dead end now. So... now that I'm in this mindset of definitely wanting to move to Japan (since I have literally nothing for me where I currently am), I'm just sad. I have no idea how to look for a job in Japan, but I want to. Hmm.

As far as I'm concerned, the only real worry is the planets looking too samey. If they can successfully avoid that, then the game will be everything I want.
