  1. Psychonauts 2

Does no-one feel kind of bummed that DF will be stuck in the past for at least the next five years if they are making this and then Brutal Legend 2?
  2. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

My best contributions on this forum are when I shut up and let other people say what I want to say, but better.
  3. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I gave it another go but the game has definitely taken more from me already than I'm willing to give. I just feel like I wasted hours to make myself feel frustrated. If it had saving and loading some of that could be taken out, but as it is I've lost hours of work several times already. At least half of the time I've put into it has disappeared because of random deaths.
  4. Fargo (TV series)

I agree it has its weaknesses and they are different from the first season. They are about equally good IMO, noy quite excellent but close.
  5. Spacebase!

Space base was an early access game. It just wasn't as good as I hoped, and I think a lot of that comes from the initial idea not being strong enough. It doesn't feel like space or a space station. Buying an early access game is a risk and you shouldn't do it if the game in its current state isn't enough for you. For me, it was simply a poor investment and I don't need an apology. The reason I'm not backing DF games is that they seem to be too fast and loose with development. The games tend to be OK and look interesting. I want more than OK.
  6. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I bought Elite on sale a week or so back and man this game makes you work to get any fun out of it. The first contact with the tutorials was so deflating I took a few days off. When I started playing, apart from liking the look and feel of it, the game doesn't really let me do anything. Most stations don't offer me any missions, trading is pointless with the starter ship, combat impossible. So there's nothing apart from looking at places and grinding. My brother says it's more fun with friends, but it's difficult to get excited.
  7. Mr. Robutt

I think I gave up after four or so as well.
  8. Smooth loop of singing audio clip

Ooh, I'll definitely need to do that. Cheers!
  9. Smooth loop of singing audio clip

They just fade a clip in and out when played. I just I can rig it with update and the audio source's volume. I guess an audio source can't play two clips at the same time?
  10. Smooth loop of singing audio clip

Try making an audio clip in audacity where you fade the clip in and out and then chain three, but so that the next one starts to fade in when the previous one is fading out. If you are careful with this, the volume should stay even. Then trim so you are left with the middle segment. When you play it in unity, you will want to make it fade in somehow and then loop while keeping the volume constant. This thread seems good for it, so does anyone know how to get some sort of envelope or adsr filter into unity?
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

I started watching Bob and David, and, uh, it seemed super bad? What am I missing?
  12. Return of the Steam Box!

So it's impossible to use the virtual keyboard with the Steam Controller? I've been using the Xbox 360 controller for games for ages, so it never really occurred to me that Valve would limit the Steam Controller to Steam. My blue eyes keep getting me into trouble.
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

Oo, new Knick and Fargo? Good to know. Doctor Who has been so tired, I'm having difficulty motivating myself to watch. Is anyone watching The Last Kingdom? I'm really liking it, although Danelaw era England is an easy sell.
  14. SPECTRE (new James Bond movie)

It's weird that Casino Royale was so well-liked but none of the new Bond films seem to understand why.
  15. Thread link: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/10447-keep-talking-and-nobody-explodes/ This is a jolly good game and should work great over Skype with a small group. I'd be up for it today and tomorrow in the evening (GMT), so if anyone has this and happens to have a free evening, let me know. I'm free in about five hours (5pm GMT) and until at least 10pm. Or we can do it tomorrow, or as is likely, at some time in the far future because no one who has the game is free in such short notice.
  16. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

I made this thread because I'd like to play with youse: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/10490-keep-talking-and-nobody-explodes-unbombing-through-skype/
  17. The way David Cage does black people, it's less offensive if Detroit is all-white.
  18. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

Well, it doesn't look the same to me at all, but remastered voices should be a treat.
  19. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

Yup. I can complain because it doesn't look good. It should look good.
  20. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Oh, they speak English, but they usually dislike having to use it under pressure. Party games have to be really light in my experience.
  21. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

There's something off about it. I'm not a fan.
  22. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

I played a few games of this with my girlfriend and it was great. I was worried the language barrier would be too great for her to decode the manual, but it's not a huge problem at least with the simpler bombs. Unfortunately I suspect it wouldn't work as a party game in this country because of the language. Except maybe among people actually studying English in uni.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I actually like Matt Damon and his performance hints at a character that is believable, but the script prefers to show the NASA PR side. I could imagine a three hour version with more depth.
  24. Movie/TV recommendations

The time scale is pretty huge. I don't mind him being resilient enough to survive, it just came too easy. I mean there's a single jump of seven months in the film. That's a long time to be alone.
