Mangela, you're being very vague!

Waaaitaminute, according to isthereanydeal.com, Bioshock 2 and Minerva's Den have both gone cheaper than this in the past year. Fucking broken Steam Wishlist notifications!

I own Lost Girls but haven't read it yet. I take this to mean you didn't like it? Maybe I'm not keeping up with his work enough to know the bad stuff, I'll take a look at what he's done since his America's Best Comics stuff. EDIT: okay, seems more like he hasn't done much direct work on comics in the past five years or so, and up til then I thought his work was still really strong.

Remember to check that Idle Map thread or whatever it's called, to see which Thumbs you can visit! Cambridge has the Centre for Computing History.

This is pretty close to the one that's served me well for a few years. (Actually, this is closer, and it seems it's only now available in pink, so it would be a strike against gender stereotypes).

To hear Moore tell it, Morrison copied the whole magic thing off him anyway. And has Moore's quality of work really dipped that much? Maybe LoG Vol3 wasn't as good as the first two, but Promethea, Tom Strong and all that were brilliant.

Also: it's good to see a second thread with the "hold onto your butts" tag.

Ace! I have also been waiting for this for over a year, maybe two. Every time Bioshock 2 or a Bioshock bundle goes on sale, I eagerly check whether Minerva has gone on sale too and am bitterly disappointed. Maybe this is the year that Emerald City Confidential goes on sale too!

My underlying point about Seinfeld was that "lack of racial diversity" =/= "racist" and I also thought a lot of stuff was getting inferred from very little context, but I won't drag the conversation back there. All I want to say is that I really enjoyed Bee Movie.

I just watched the first episode and it was really slow and rather daft. Have you been watching it, Reyturner?

Hooray! Please include a name -> handle list in the show notes! -
Good to hear. I just watched the pilot and it was okay but slooow and didn't feel particularly original. I somehow did not recognise Aygeman!

Well, that article (from the same site) calling the Seinfeld show racist because it didn't have many black characters is kind of proving his point that people use the word incorrectly...

Here's one Polygon interview with them which shows awareness and intent on their part re. controversy. Also, the quote in the fourth post in this thread (bearing in mind that this forum has an irritating "Pol. Correctness" -> "opinionated in a different way to me" filter. EDIT: duh, of course the filter filtered me

Gormongous, you goof, you need to edit the link to the 'cast into the original post! I just went off to identify the Kieron-alike (it's the guy who pronounces it anim-ee and is an art school graduate who started with Perfect Blue, Akira and Spirited Away, I think that's Codicier) and it took me ages to find the damn link! btw, if anyone starts a manga podcast, they should call it "You're Reading In The Wrong Direction!" -

I try not to pirate stuff if the studio/publisher/whatevs hasn't made it impossible for me to obtain reasonably. Of course, I might end up getting it from ebay which doesn't support them directly either, but I guess it encourages sales overall if people know they have the option of reselling.

Cool, thanks. I think I will stick to the manga! It's my first, and I'm really enjoying it. I love the way that the peculiar rhythms of dialogue and emotion I've seen in anime are present in this too.

We don't have a manga thread, right? Just the comics thread? If so, I think this is probably the best place to ask: Between N1njaSqu1rr3l's generosity and a book token Christmas gift, I got the first two volumes of Death Note for free. I enjoyed it enough to second-guess my original plan to read those two volumes then switch to the anime. So, what are people's recommendations? Spend something like £20-30 to get the manga, or watch the anime on Netflix for free (outside the monthly fee I pay anyway, of course)? No spoilers, please!
