  1. [Frozen In Carbonite] Sorrow and Horror

How's progress going with this, brendon? Still working on it?
  2. [Released] A Good One

Thanks folks! Development is still on-going. Latest developments: -completed building gameworld. -rewrote tree-spawning script so it places trees in clusters for a slightly more realistic feel.
  3. [Release] The House on Holland Hill

Very nice looking game! I only made it to the delivery where the maid answers the door. When she went in to get some money I followed her in and then she came back, talked to me, and locked the door, trapping me inside... FOREVER. What a scary game.
  4. [Release] Bogost in the Shell

This game's got some SYSTEMS, man. So much complexity packed into such a tiny game. Good job Atte, once again you deliver a jam game that leaves me wanting more. Sloane, look at the minimap in the lower right corner, it'll show you where you need to go to hack into the next body/location.
  5. [Released] A Good One

IT'S DONE! Well ok, it's not quite done. But it's done enough that I can have people play it. There's a good bit of world built already to ski around in, but don't go expecting any Christmas Miracles. Those will appear first in the final version.
  6. [Released] A Good One

I'm not gonna be able to get this finished by tomorrow. Gonna need to give it another week or two. Character is mostly done, now including sounds as well. Gameworld: 25% done Missions: 0% Currently working on menus and intro. Will at least try to have an Open Beta available by the end of tomorrow. edit: PAUSE FUNCTION WORKS! I'M GETTIN THERE!
  7. [Frozen In Carbonite] Sorrow and Horror

I like the fixed-number-of-steps idea. Need to communicate it to the player somehow tho. Either a numbercounter or a lifebar ticking down.
  8. [Frozen In Carbonite] Sorrow and Horror

Nice one brendon. Is this a stealth-sequel to Cruisin' for Somethin'? (also yes, that rock opera is quite something)
  9. [Released] A Good One

Welp, I don't suppose I'll be able to rustle up any voiceactors in the remaining time, but this intro narration has to get done one way or another, so I broke out the recording equipment (Voice Recorder app on Samsung Galaxy phone) and did it myself. Never done any voiceacting before, but with a good bit of editing and a somber guitarloop underneath it sounds almost passable! Not sure. What do you guys think? (Don't hold back, I have no illusions about being cut out for this kinda stuff.)
  10. [Released] A Good One

Heh, a lot of demand for a yeti. Maybe! We'll see. The game is set in 19th century America though, so it'd have to be a Sasquatch.
  11. [Released] A Good One

I know I haven't posted much, but rest assured progress has been made every day of this jam. So far I've modelled and animated my player character, and set up the controls and physics for controlling him. A lot of time has been spent finetuning the physics of the character, and the particle systems, and now I've got this thing playing and feeling pretty much like I imagined it. Next up: creating the gameworld. Again, if anyone is interested in helping out, check the Jobs listing in the first post. I know I kinda shot myself in the foot by not asking for help before the jam started, but I was a bit uncertain I'd be able to pull off my part in this, so I didn't go all-in. :|
  12. Nice! Loved those hockey games as a kid, looking forward to this.
  13. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

JAAAAAAM TIIIIIIIIME I shall begin making something today. Thread to follow, if it starts looking like something that might be something.
  14. I shredded lines of fresh powder and GOT STEEP this weekend. This is pretty good! Gotta say I'm not really into doing stunts and tricks and racking up combos and whatnot, I'm more into it just for exploring the mountain, and the joy of the physics of skiing and snowboarding and wingsuiting. My favourite bit wasn't any of the events, but the part in between the events where you had to get to the next event start-point. Sure, you can simply look at the map and fast-travel there, but I chose to start at the previously unlocked start-point and try to make my way over to the new event just using my skiis and on-foot. Later on when the paraglider unlocked, that was very handy for getting around as well, but it also kinda feels like cheating the way a convenient up-draft always occurs when you get close to the cliff-side, essentially letting you use the thing as a lift. Anyway, I really like the physicality of the skiis and snowboard, your character seems to have a nice, realistic bit of weight to him. The wingsuit is cool, but I still think Volo Airsport has this game beat when it comes to the physics of wingsuiting(not that I've ever wingsuited irl), here it feels a tad arcadey. The paraglider, as I said previously, is mainly a means of getting around, not much joy to actually use. And I really liked being able to switch between these on-the-fly, and being able to just switch to on-foot as well. Tho I wish the on-foot had a jump or mantle function. From a technical standpoint, the game looks good, with only the slightest of loadtimes (1-2 sec maybe) when jumping between the map and the player. I played on PS4. Didn't have any crashes. Except into a few trees.
  15. I nabbed the first one. Thanks! I've been looking forward to this. Only snowboarding game I was every really into was Supreme Snowboarding on PC (circa 2000), nothing I've played since has quite scratched that same itch. Perhaps this will.
  16. The Next President

WHAT IS GOING ON WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING OVER THERE STOP IIIIIITTTTTTTTT
  17. Harvester! I never actually played this, and judging from Danielle's description that's probably for the best.
  18. That Ernie Dingo goes to Sega World vid... Spoilers: Ernie Dingo reckons it's pretty nifty.
  19. Recently completed video games

Finished Mirror's Edge Catalyst last night. It's good! Mostly! Truth be told the open world is a bit lifeless, and there's not much incentive to explore or do a bunch of sidequests, tho some of them are fun, like the gridnodes(Catalysts version of the Assassin's Creed "climb tower and synchronize"-mechanic). And the story is merely serviceable. However, all that is easily forgivable thanks to the solid and fun core mechanics of running and beating dudes up. Perhaps it's the combination of futuristic architecture and a female protagonist pummeling dudes, but the combat gave me nice, nostalgic Oni-vibes. I wish there were more games coming out with this type of more "hands-on" hand-to-hand combat. Everything just seems to follow the Batman-template. And while I like the Bat-template just fine, I was glad to see Catalyst go for a more old-school system that doesn't have lock-on, but incorporates directional attacks and heavy use of the environment instead. Score: But minus points for only featuring that Chvrches song in an entirely optional and easily missable jukebox near the start of the game. Boo! Why wasn't it in the end credits at least?
  20. You learn all kinds of things listening to this podcast. VERY EDUCATIONAL!
  21. Who else had to go to urbandictionary.com to find out what "switch" means? Or maybe it's just me who's not up-to-date on the latest sex-lingo.
  22. Welcome to Wizard Jam 4!

I've been looking forward to the new Wizard Jam. Haven't produced jack-shit since the last jam, and I need the kick-in-the-pants of the constrained time-limit to start gamedevving again. I'd prefer if we could pick a title from any of the network's shows again tho(got my eye on another Idle Weekend title), and also I'd rather not have to make it Winter/Xmas themed. :| However, if these restrictions remain, I can live with it. That's pretty much how it worked for the last jam. I pitched my "In Search of Paradise" idea, listed what I needed help with, and was approached by 3 people who wanted to help out. Root, Akidu and Badatstuff contributed 3d models, audio, and music, respectively. I loved working with those guys, and I'm favor of just doing it like that again.
  23. Ooooh, him. He does know how to make a movie exciting despite mainly focusing on just one character, so yes.
