Looks like I get to try to remember my PowerUp Rewards password later today! (Spoiler: I will give up and just reset it again, like I do every four months when GI finally has Sweet Deets) Edit: Oh man, Year One legendaries getting left behind. Time to steer clear of r/destinythegame for the foreseeable future. In fact, here are the Greatest Hits - Nolan North is re-recording the whole game. Dinklage is 100% gone, so only people who have played prior to TTK will know the true joy of Dinklebot. Somehow, I think Mr. Dinklage won't really care. Guy was in Pixels, after all. The script is staying the same. - New level cap of 40. GI's a little sketchy exactly on how this works - it seems like Light Levels are gone, and level 40 is just *level 40* instead of the "level 20 but now use your gear." The direct quote is "In my hands-on time, my existing level 34 guardians transitioned seamlessly into the new system, and leveling during subsequent story missions was smooth and engaging." but there are no specifics on how that seamless transition went. - Your purples are worthless. Exotics will continue to evolve, but unless vault space increases, you better start killing your nostalgia and shard that Shadow Price. - Storytelling! More cinematics! More explanations of subclasses (maybe unlock quests)! More cool gun stories!

BUT THAT NIGHTHAWK SHOT AT THE END THO I think you are 100% right on the Bubble Titan though, I think that alone would have made a huge difference. Weapons of Light would make the DPS barrage after Mines #2 almost instant, and although I'd have to check the points at which adds show up, I think it would reduce those times we ran from "door" to "stairs" because Skolas was getting Too Close and we had to pass the taint
-
I think the taint jokes started after the fourth or fifth Real Wipe when we were all getting pretty sick of Skolas' garbage, but yeah, that was astounding. Also my goodness, all those insane emergency res runs. What a great win. What a great, great win.

I think what kills me about rushing that bounty (15 caps) is that you are going to get it over time! Like, if you have time for less than 5 games or something, okay, sure, cap away, but if you're playing Iron Banner for most of the day, you'll hit that with minimal issues. Sit by A/C right at the start, and over the course of the game, you'll probably cap at least one other point once. Even with just those two caps a game, you're gonna hit 15 captures after eight rounds, so unless you really dislike PVP and want those bounties out of the way, there's no reason to play sloppy and rush it. That said, melee kills are awful to get (especially in the current Shotgun Age) and you've gotta play bad and ruin your k/d to get that at this point.

Iron Banner aka "Stop capping C" aka "stop running to B on Asylum from the exact same locations" aka "seriously stop funneling through the door" aka "guys SERIOUSLY" I swear every time I roll Asylum I just sigh and pray we hit B first, and inevitably just watch us get rolled while everyone runs through the same dumb door until inevitably "you've captured C!" "NO" "You've lost C. You've lost A." "WHY"

Oh, IB only lets you buy that EL once? Here I was, getting all excited

So last weekend we ran Hard Mode VoG, and it ended rather unpleasantly. During the course of that, we discussed the idea of doing some sort of "everybody gets to use relics to get practice" session for both Crota and VoG. A lot of people got good practice in with the relic when we did Normal VoG, but we obviously didn't do the same for Crota. Would anybody be interested in doing a Relic Tutorial session this weekend? Crota's pretty fast as is, and if we ran normal just so people can get a feel for the mechanics and using the sword (ignoring the life recovery thing would probably be a good choice also) we could probably blast through a couple of runs over the course of two hours. Possibly even less time than that if we had someone get the checkpoint, load everyone else in who needs practice, drop out to keep the checkpoint while the rest of the group downs Crota, repeat. I dunno if that's actually feasible, but that's probably the best way outside "almost kill Crota with the sword, wipe, repeat." If this is something people are interested in, I'll throw something up on the100. I also want to knock out Hard VoG again, but I'm not gonna make everyone else suffer through that if I'm the only one getting anything out of it (need that Triumph). EDIT: Obviously, Iron Banner is also running this weekend, and that takes precedence over PvE Raid Goofery. That said, if you're looking for a break this weekend, this might be a fun way to do it. Just a thought!

"I shoot my first opponent twice, and the corrosion rots his body. His partner runs over to revive, and I surgically remove his lungs with two slices of a knife. Over the horizon, I see the third approach. I wait, patiently, until one well-placed shot ends his life. It is finished. I have gone 9 and 0. This is my design."

Top tier gameplay set to classical music is always aces, but that is some *next level nonsense*. The ability to scope while moving and pull off those headshots so flawlessly is absurd. This video is Destiny PvP Art.
-
Oh dang, good call. I'm medium-trash at PvP, but I can probably BS my way through with the almighty Thorn/Matador 64 combo. I've never touched Iron Banner previously, so hopefully I can make some magic happen there. Side note: my Destiny time is going to be in even greater flux than usual over the next couple of weeks, since I'm moving. That said, once I've moved, it's all Destiny, all the time. Edit: Yeah I am definitely not going 9-0 in Trials, lol. That said, if we put together some Thumb Groups, we could probably make a goofy Thumbs of Osiris video for kicks.

My hunter should be 34 by Friday (just need that last Etheric Light, or for Variks to sell boots this week...), and would be 100% down. I also still need Hard Mode Atheon, and now that we all have Relic Experience and general Fight Experience that should hopefully be less painful than it was last week. Speaking of EL, anyone have tips for the best way to farm the stuff? I know you get the one a week from 34/35 PoE, but it would be peachy keen if I could have more than one set of gear to wear for such occasions.
-
Best in Slot, if I remember my MMO terms correctly. Amped to pick up Patience and Time when I get home today (early Friday wooo)! Also think I'm gonna grind all the ghosts for some Sweet Lore Action

Man I wish the PS4 saved voice audio so bad. Super thanks to Mike Danger and Jon for this one. Note that we all had exotics drop; guess Omnigul was feeling generous!

Would be happy to help sometime; just let me know. Thumbs and Destiny have been very good to me lately, and I feel the need to give something back.

This week: Nighthawk Golden Gun shots for everyone!
-
Tune in this Friday when Crazy Xur comes into town with his wares for 50% off! Careful though, only one of those Gjallarhorns is the real deal! Can we imagine though if Bungie did a Crazy Xur week where he just sells exotic engrams? Like, I dunno, 7 coins a pop, give people the option to swap motes for coins instead of vice versa. And then you just roll all No Land Beyonds

A big shoutout thank you to everyone in that Saturday Crota raid; I couldn't have asked for a better first raid experience or group of folks to play with. Even though I was only 32 and not nearly as geared as everyone else, I felt welcomed, and had probably one of the best times I've ever had playing Destiny. If there was ever a reason to keep playing this game, it's runs like that. Next time I'll make sure to bring a toothbrush before we run the raid.
-
I bought Nighthawk ASAP and am really excited about the changes. I run Thorn and TLW a whole bunch right now, and I'm perfectly happy to have to start experimenting with other guns now that the incentive is there. The idea that Bungie throws out about "Gjallarhorn is a gate" has been met with skepticism, but I think it's valid in a lot of ways; I'm always concerned about running raids/strikes based on whether or not I have the "right gear" as is, so the idea that other guns that are maybe more attainable will be just as valid is welcome news. (also, that Misha Mansoor cover of Sepiks Prime's theme in the Weekly Update is bomb as all get out, time to jam some Periphery on the way home)

Huh, I'm seeing a USD$60 bundle with GTAV, San Andreas, and a Tiger Shark Cash Card. GTAV itself is not on sale, but it's in "bundles" that are the same price as it would be standalone. EDIT: from the time I made this and posted it you updated womp DOUBLE EDIT: There are also bundles for a larger cash card (and no San Andreas), or Max Payne 3 (and the same cash card) also for $60. Basically you can't just buy GTAV alone and tough luck if you don't want the Banana Bucks or a game you probably already own.

So... what now? Sony has Morpheus, Microsoft has Oculus (let's be real, it's a Microsoft product now), and Vive/SteamVR is on the table (potentially as the 'PC' equivalent)? VR is gonna get crazy in the next year.

Foil Isabelles going for $50,000 Buy it Now on eBay. The world is crumbling. tegan sits on a throne, glancing at a "Nintendo World Championships 2020" stamped foil GracieGrace. "Where are your packs now, scalpers"

POLAR OPPOSITES Arowana is probably my best map, and I think it comes down to "I love elevation" moreso than anything else. In Ranked, the dumb little grates they add that connect the platforms make it such that it is *super* easy to get over to the opponents side if you're willing to just charge through it. As soon as you get through to one of the aisles to their side, you're home free; just ink a path back to the middle, up around the other side, and just run figure eights to keep them off guard and having to continually re-ink their way back to the center. In Turf War, it gets a little trickier, because those grates are gone, and it changes depending on your Weapon of Choice. When I play Charger, I head straight for one of the sniper points and just *sit there*. Don't leave, don't worry about your points, just sit up there and pick them off as they come in. If someone makes it through, ignore them in the immediate moment, keep an eye on the minimap (squid if you need to check) to see if they're still running amok, and deal with them *if necessary*. I've found as soon as I leave a sniper perch to go chase someone down/chase glory, everything unravels. Someone needs to be holding that middle point. As a Roller, you should, uh, roll? I dunno, I don't play Roller >_>. As a Shooter/Splatter, I find the best way is to participate in the usual "book it to the middle" race, followed by immediately hopping up the wall to the enemy base on the left and going in from there. If even one member of the other team has to chase after you, and you can catch and splat them off guard, that's Free Turf for you, and as the enemy needs to pull back into their own base to deal with you, your teammates get a firmer hold on the middle point. Inevitable Inkstrikes are what really shake Arowana up, and you have to be ready to recapture the middle (and have the numbers advantage doing so!) in the event that giant swathes of turf get inked, allowing people to slip past Chargers. Of course, if Mr. 18-0 is on the other team, none of this applies anyways, since their strategy is "you will lose"

New map tomorrow! Kelp Dome! I'm realizing more and more that Urchin Underpass is 100% my worst stage, and that Port Mackerel is absolutely my least favorite Ranked Battle map. Having only three aisles of attack, and having them be so close to each other that one good Charger can stop anyone in their tracks makes it a terrible battle of attrition. I've only seen a few knockouts while playing on Port Mackerel, and it's because neither team can make it down the got-dang aisles to get at the other side. On every other stage, there's an element of surprise in play, where one player can't man all the various entry points. Whether that's because of a height difference in platforms or straight Random Approach Aisles (heyo Blackbelly), there's something that can catch you off guard. On Mackerel, you can tell when someone is coming as soon as you see ink changing color in one of the aisles, and that makes it exceedingly frustrating. It essentially comes down to "well okay, which team has more Inkstrike players in addition to a Charger or two," which is actually Ranked in general, I guess.
