  1. Plug your shit

For anyone wondering, this is the tweet:
  2. The Good Place

+1 on Jenna being a trendsetter
  3. I Had A Random Thought...

Is that because of steamed hams?
  4. The Good Place

Another +1 to the Good Place. Enjoying it a hell of a lot. Also hoping that against the odds it's a show that ends itself in a timely manner instead of dragging beyond where it needs to be.

Beat Celeste as well last night and loved it. At the very start, the moveset seemed to be designed to help you mitigate mistakes. You can grab walls and climb them. Plus the dash can course correct. But in reality by the end of the game I had to use them in such a precise way that they were just a perfectly natural part of the toolset. And that's without even diving into more of the b-sides and getting more Strawberries. Such a wonderful game, I expect I'll dig more into this for more strawberries rather than continue my Super Meat Boy revisit.
  6. Recently completed video games

I'm about halfway through Celeste and I made the mistake of trying the B-Side of level 1. SO hard. I managed to do it in the end, with almost 400 deaths. But it definitely taught me that these are post game things.
  7. Dead Cells

    Y'know. A vania that's gone rogue.
  8. The Fall

This trailer is not what I was expecting. My anticipation for a follow this has wavered significantly, but I am definitely still curious about this follow up (and it is coming to Switch...).
  9. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Lovers is great! A very cute game that's relatively simple to pick up. It does get hard, especially as a pair rather than 3 or 4. Usually, you optimally need to do at least 3 things. It's not as hectic as Overcooked though, because the space you have to move in is a lot simpler and consistent (unlike say, switching to the tilting pirate ship stage in Overcooked).
  10. [Release] Get Hoisted

The year is 2025. The world's technology has combined into a tyrannical 45 brained super computer that's constantly learning and evolving to outsmart everyone that tries to stop it. That's why the world needs your skills in hoistball, the hot new sport of the future. You are the worst hoistball player in the world, and we need you to face off against the computer. You must intentionally hoist yourself so that it can learn your bad habits and slowly become less and less intelligent until it's a pushover for us humans to dismantle. EDIT: Get Hoisted has been released! Get it here: https://superbiasedman.itch.io/get-hoisted This is "Get Hoisted" a hoistball simulator. Hoistball is a futuristic fast paced game that's basically dodgeball with grenades. You're facing off in matches against a powerful AI, but your objective is not to win. Instead, you have specific challenges like "Hoist Yourself" where you need to be blown up by your own rebounding grenades hoist balls. Each match is about you trying to complete these self hoisting objectives before the match is over, because whoever wins... you lose. Each time you complete a challenge, the AI will then adopt that behaviour in the next mission. So the AI gets less effective over time but you still need to make sure games last long enough to complete each new objective. The idea is that each level will be an interesting challenge where you have to hamper yourself in a different way. The prime example of "Getting hoisted" requires that you lose your team members by getting caught by the rebound of your own hoist balls. But that means you can't let them get caught out by the enemy team's hoist balls. And you also need to make sure you don't accidentally start killing off the whole enemy team without completing the challenge. Each challenge will be a different way of skillfully hampering your own side and I'm hoping to name all the challenges after silly Idle Thumbs network memes like "Get Hoisted", "Stay Spicy" and "I Scorn My Past Self"
  11. [Release] Get Hoisted

I fell off updating here because a lot of my time at home was spent jamming rather than updating the devlog, but I did submit this! I managed to implement an AI system, with thanks to Mythalore for some advice on designing it. It and the game in general is a bit rough, but it definitely taught me a framework for how to do this stuff. And I could do it a lot cleaner the next time round. Also big thanks to @Atlantic for composing the cyberpunk music for the game. I just gave him my vague wishy washy ideas and that was all he needed. You can find it here: https://superbiasedman.itch.io/get-hoisted All in all I'm pretty happy about what I learned, and already excited to hop onto a new project to make use of that knowledge. ^^
  12. WIZARD JAM 6 // Welcome Thread

@Tog If you go to this page: https://itch.io/jam/wizard-jam-6 There's a Submit Your Project button and you can submit a game that you already have set up on itch.io (or upload a new game).
  13. GOTY of the Year

    Sounds good.
  14. GOTY of the Year

When do you expect to request those btw? Just wondering when I'll likely be writing mine.
  15. [Release] Get Hoisted

It's gonna be in Unity, as I usually use what I already know to try squeeze more juice out of my two weeks. I have some basic movement in now. Just arrows to move, click and hold to launch hoistballs. Plus you can toggle between different members of your team. I think the primary obstacle now is figuring out the AI for your dormant team mates as well as the enemy AI. That's all entirely new to me so I haven't even figured out where to start so I've just gotta look into some resources. I also added a glowy ghost trail effect.
  16. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Depending on your meaning, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a really good co-operative game though it does involve a lot of fighting computer enemies.
  17. Important If True 41: A Very Happy Cow

It is also strange to claim that phones are sentient but not sapient and that's why they don't have rights, considering non sapient animals do have rights.
  18. [Release] Get Hoisted

Started on this today, just for a little bit after work but I already have rudimentary player control in there as well as the ability to launch bouncing hoistballs. It's strange getting the bounce to look right from a top down perspective, but I have the principle of the motion in place and just need to fix the numbers so it feels right. I've also done some basic style set up for the art. Picking out a few colour palettes to use. It'll be sprite art, and I'll be attempting to make it have a neon style glow, without ruining the limited colour palette. I have a promising test, but I'll work up some more before sharing these tests. Feels like a good start anyway, but with lots more to do.
  19. Kentucky Route Zero

It is actually earlier than that: From here: http://cardboardcomputer.com/2017/09/07/notes-on-the-tv-edition/ That was back in September, so who knows if plans have shifted since.
  20. Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

A good excuse to go back and finish this. I hope they add some more difficulty options to make it interesting for me starting over.
  21. Kentucky Route Zero

I never played 4 either. At this point I'm waiting for the Switch release to play the whole game and cannot wait for it.
  22. [Release] Get Hoisted

Hah, I had not but that's a good reference point.
  23. GOTY of the Year

My top 3 of indeterminate order all play to different strengths in games that I love. Breath of the Wild was just a bundle of joy to sit with and set myself whatever fun goal I wanted then run up a mountain to get it. Night in the Woods was a very personal game that explored some characters in a way that reflected my real life and got to me. Nier: Automata had a highly engaging story, and looking back on it provokes a lot of thought about the themes it tackled. Because this is the incredible year in games of 2017, Spla2n, Stardew Valley, Heat Signature and PUBG didn't get top spots despite also being games I had a lot of good times with. Plus I still have to play Mario Odyssey. And at some point get Hollow Knight, Pyre, Edith Finch and Tacoma. What a year.
