Wrestlevania Posted January 13, 2010 Superb fun, again. Only low point for me was when my damned controller ran out of battery halfway around the Nurburgring, whilst I was making a concerted effort to catch Patters. Watching all that hard work quickly evaporate, helplessly pinballing off one Armaco after another before cruising to a stop on the grass verge, was spirit crushing. And no, I don't really get that Cat & Mouse mode either. I think we need to have some sort of light physical damage modelling enabled really, and the cats be in cars that are more nimble than the heavily-upgraded M3 I was sliding around all over the place in. infovore Posted January 14, 2010 Sorry I missed this, chaps - was out. Not sure I'm around next week either, which is a bummer; might turn up for it later. (Also: I've only just discovered the multiplayer forum - I wasn't logged into the site for ages. Idiot.)
monkeyarmada Posted January 16, 2010 Following on from miffy's sterling effort, I'm now broke from building my own Yaris. It's not quite 'yakka' enough yet, all show no go. But it rides the curbs well.
Patters Posted January 17, 2010 Don't know if I can make it this week, or next, with it being exams time.
miffy495 Posted January 17, 2010 Exams? In January? How different is the british university system? Last day for exams for me was December 21st. Anyway, I'm still in.

toblix Posted January 17, 2010 Also me. I haven't really made any progress since last time, but at least I'm able to stay out of people's way. I'm having real problems making Forza 3 fun. I found that my initial difficulty setting of easy always resulted in me just taking the lead, because the car in front of me would always just turn off the track and into a wall, leaving me in first place after a lap, and then it'd just be me racing alone for the remainder of the race. So I turned it to the next one (medium), and suddenly everyone leaves me in the dust. Turns out I have to start buying cars or something. Still, is the racing really half competition and half being a gentleman? It seems the correct procedure is to just maintain your position in line until a long, straight stretch of road, and pass as many as you can before getting back in line for the windy parts. None of the other cars crash into the others and bump them off the road, or take short cuts across the lawn. Why?
Patters Posted January 18, 2010 Had another idea for a themed race: F class cars which are upgraded to A class; following Miffy's effort, I put a Golf GTi into A class.

Patters Posted January 18, 2010 Man, I'm a total trendsetter! It's no way near as stupid as my A class Range Rover, though it is ace.

I noticed you seem to be racing in mainly "stock" (i.e. default setting) cars, Toblix - is that accurate? If it is, you should try using Quick Upgrade to push a particular car you like higher into the class bracket you're racing it in. I'm sure that's patronizing shit and you've been doing this all along. If so: my apologies. This week: It's likely I won't make it either, unfortunately. When The Road was first properly trailed last summer(?), I idly suggested on Twitter that myself and any other interested Bristol-way Twitterers should go and see it altogether. And I'm now being held to this - which is great! - but I want to go on a Wednesday because you can get 2-for-1 tickets then and I'm cheap/skint [delete as appropriate]. We were supposed to go last week, but I got snowed in and we had a birthday in the family too. So it's likely this week we'll be going to see it. But if I don't go, I'll see you on the grid! Fuck you, you patronizing fuck. Also, the reason I'm mainly in stock cars is that I've raced so little in the single player that all I have is the cars they give me as I progress, so they're mainly the lower classes. Also, since I've been playing on easy I haven't really felt the need to ultra boost any of the cars. However, after switching to medium difficulty I was forced to start upgrading, so I think maybe my VX200 or whatever it's called, is maxed out, or whatever car people call it. toblix Posted January 20, 2010 That was fun. However, my Yaris had this problem that if I so much as touched the slightly raised curb, the wheels would just lift up and the car would start rolling for miles. Can I maybe attach weights to it in tuning or something?
miffy495 Posted January 21, 2010 Yeah, I've rolled myself a few times. Seems to just come with the territory. Sorry I didn't make it. My girlfriend had a free period and we ended up going for lunch, so I didn't make it home between classes. Next week!

However, my Yaris had this problem that if I so much as touched the slightly raised curb, the wheels would just lift up and the car would start rolling for miles. Can I maybe attach weights to it in tuning or something? Reckon some Forza wing and front splitter action would help with that, down force innit? And more stickers, don't underestimate the weight of vinyl. I have the curb issue with my Yaris too, so might try and fiddle with the compression damping on the suspension... S. Garple Posted January 22, 2010 I'm trying to install this to the hard drive to solve my disc problem. It's always heartbreaking for some reason to clear space on my dinky 20GB HDD. "Super Street Fighter II Turbo" and "Delete" don't belong in the same sentence. But the prices on 360 hard drives are so sickeningly inflated. If all goes well, maybe I'll join in on some motorthumb. Also, has anyone ever had your xbox tell you a disc is unreadable when the disc is brand new and undamaged? That's happening with Bayonetta.
Wrestlevania Posted January 25, 2010 Also, has anyone ever had your xbox tell you a disc is unreadable when the disc is brand new and undamaged? That's happening with Bayonetta. That's not new discs, it's old hardware; the DVD drives in Xboxen seem remarkably frail. Back to the front: I'm officially naming our bonkers upgraded racers class as "F in the A". I'm sure you'll agree it makes perfect sense. I'm sorry I've not gotten around to clarifying classes and drawing up a rough shopping list of sorts (just to suggest the type of car to get, not the exact model, mods, etc.). Is having a few fixed race types to pick on something people want? I get the distinct impression others get as frustrated as me when we play ad-hoc and have to default to picking stock cars when you don't have something suitable in your garage. toblix Posted January 25, 2010 I'm up for the thing where you can race cars around. Although it's fun to be able to choose ones own car rather than some stock one, it's really all the same to me.
Patters Posted January 25, 2010 So 2 more DLC packs have been announced, one of which the general public can chose what is included, a pretty cool move I think. http://jalopnik.com/5455862/jalopnik-forza-motorsport-3-partner-on-two-new-car-packs

Maybe it will even be able to read Forza. Either way, I'm psyched to have a decently sized hard-drive and an HDMI port. And hell...maybe Lego Batman and Pure will be ok. I heard some of the Rooster teeth guys (those that make Red Vs Blue), mention a lot of games are incompatible with some part of the older HDDs, good luck with it.
