What the hell?? Reminds me of an observation a stand-up comedian made: KFC is known as "KFC" the world over. In France it is known as KFC. But in Quebec it's known as PFK (Poulet Frit Kentucky)... It's just fucking idiotic.
elmuerte Posted April 5, 2009 I also liked this one: http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=d645a02a-9a24-4172-a92f-46cf1941cdb1 apparently French is not French enough for Quebecers [sp?]
ThunderPeel2001 Posted April 5, 2009 Good lord. It's like they're saying, "We must never progress! We must freeze our culture precisely how it is now and never let it grow... The rest of the world must accommodate US!"
Thyroid Posted April 5, 2009 Yeah we were having a good laugh about this yesterday. Well, you're talking about a province that tried to become a seperate country from the rest of Canada. Irony: I have never met a Frenchman who has the faintest idea what the average Quebec-ian is saying.
gdf Posted April 5, 2009 A few friends and I once quizzed a Canadian on Xbox Live during a game of Rainbow Six Vegas. We asked him various things about what the country's like, "lol, time difference", and "those Elmer Fudd hats," one of which he claimed to own. When Qeubec cropped up, his response summed it up. "Fuck Quebec".
Coldkill Posted April 6, 2009 Well done... Wait... you don't live in Quebec!
twmac Posted April 6, 2009 Is that aimed at me? I'm in Montreal (should update my profile, I haven't been in England for the last 6 months) for the next 8 months or so and it is really going to screw up my gaming. The legislation says that it only affects games that will eventually provide French versions which sounds even more arse-backwards. That companies that aim to provide a French version eventually are going to be punished seems a almost as dumb as the original intent. I don't even want to think about how this will affect Sony and Nintendo titles (both have region specific submissions to the Hardware manufacturers unlike Microsoft where you can do one, global submission)
Coldkill Posted April 6, 2009 Ah that makes sense I guess.
