Scrobbs Posted March 17, 2009 I'd forgotten about this. All respect to the devs on this one. It's looking the dog's fucking bollocks. http://newenthusiast.com/james-bonding-with-source-20090317453

gdf Posted March 17, 2009 I played it when the most recent Beta came out, and although it captures the look and feel quite well, it's just not a very fun game overall. Give me an N64 any day.
DanJW Posted March 17, 2009 Or maybe we have just come a long way since the first Golden Eye game. Of course, I was never that impressed by it, since I was playing Quake at the time.

Last friday? The reviewer seems to think it's captured the fun of the old game. He could be wrong though Defo going to give it a go.
FoliorumViridum Posted March 17, 2009 I played the early beta of this... probably a year or two ago now. It was fun, definitely a good way to spend an hour or so for nostalgia kicks, but not something I can see myself going back to. After the novelty of it being Goldeneye but prettier wore off it just seemed like another run of the mill mod.

I meant Beta 3.0, which launched about a month ago. Anyway, I don't want to sound too negative, they did a great job overall, but playing something with console sensibilities on PC feels really weird. I enjoyed it for a wee while, but tired of it quickly. Maybe it's the above, maybe it's the fact it's very close in aesthetic and play style, but not quite the same, or maybe it's the lack of three other players in the room with me. It's probably a combo of all three.

T-Matt Posted March 17, 2009 That's really cool that someone is doing that. Licensed to kill with pistols was the best.
Scrobbs Posted March 18, 2009 Licensed to kill with pistols was the best. Yes! Not many people liked to play this. When not in this mode, nothing was more embarrassing than 'Klobb death'.
DanJW Posted March 18, 2009 Can you still play as Oddjob to make yourself harder to hit? He was banned in my college common room. Oh, and by far the best mode was to play with mines as the only weapon.

I agree, although for odd reasons my friends always played in licence to kill all the time I hated that mode ! Fortunalely now I burried them in the garden so I'll be able to play with some sweet mine !
