ThunderPeel2001 Posted May 14, 2008 You should definitely change your custom title to this. Lol! I think it's needs David Brent's stupid face for full ironic impact Wrestle: Nice!

Nappi Posted May 14, 2008 I occasionally open the three links when I check the new posts on this thread to see if it will result in anything even mildly interesting. (Did so just a while ago and got some high school, lame ending of a quote and a picture of a flower.) I have passed the "challenge" probably 5 times. If that makes me a cheater, then so be it, cause I won't be spending 15 minutes on something that doesn't interest, let alone inspire, me one bit if I don't have to. I don't want to bore you with the result either. I don't consider this game as a lesson in designing, but as a fun activity. I don't want to make it a chore, I have to commit to the moment I open those links. I'll try again some other day.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted May 14, 2008 I don't want to make it a chore, I have to commit to the moment I open those links. Fair enough, I guess it's just me then. I like a challenge, I guess I do believe it's a good exercise for designers, though. Not a major lesson, but a good way of losing up a bit and giving yourself some crazy challenges. It certainly beats the monotony of spending a day designing DVD covers for bad movies...
Nachimir Posted May 14, 2008 I agree with that too, these links can generate things worse than the vaguest, most nonsensical briefs and doing whatever they give is good for your mental muscles. Still not inspiring for me though. I approach this as "some dude on a forum" rather than as a designer
DanJW Posted May 14, 2008 I generally check the random links once a day. If it's something I don't like or can't be arsed to make, I'll wait a day before trying again.
Nachimir Posted May 14, 2008 Hah, like the baby tattoo idea. Just had another look through the thread, this one is great Toblix

Nappi Posted May 15, 2008 In case you are wondering, Okanagan Lake Provincial Park is an indie band and doesn't care if people can't read their name properly on the album cover. Too bad I don't know how to make decent looking chalk text. It works a bit better if you watch it really far away.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted May 15, 2008 Hmph. This one is distinctly average...
ThunderPeel2001 Posted June 10, 2008 A quick two min job... (with some minor changes to the original image).
ThunderPeel2001 Posted June 11, 2008 It's funny actually, because I looked at the picture and thought "shit", then saw another next to it I'd much rather have used. I really thought it was going to turn out like crap, but I think it turned out ok in the end. Such is the magic of design.

sobersiddhi Posted June 12, 2008 Nice! Do you still have the link to the original image? Nope, sorry... The caption had something like "I like planets" at the end of it though. I had a quick search and there are a whole heap of images using this technique, e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/melh/423364373/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/mikkelelbech/773069425/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sushla/582345653/sizes/o/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sayzey/2160675332/

Wrestlevania Posted June 12, 2008 Somewhat suggests pretentious Brit-Pop wankery to me, but I still like it:
