Michigan: Report from Hell

Recommended Posts

This thread doesn't belong in gaming, but I'm having a really hard time getting this game. It was only released in the UK, and I could not buy it from Amazon UK even when it was still readily available since Amazon.co.uk will sell me everything except games for whatever reason.

So I just won the game on Ebay UK but no luck as the seller refused to ship to the US for whatever reason. Sucks too, because I won at 8 pounds as opposed to the 25-50 pounds I've seen it everywhere else on the internet.

Is there anyone over the Atlantic that might be able to find me a decently priced copy of Michigan that would be up to sending it to me? I mean if anything you can always extort it for a high price on Amazon as most people seem to do with old games. I sort of prefer to have the original case and manual, not to be too choosy, just an OCD thing.

Thanks ahead of time to anyone who wants to help. Maybe I can obtain some North American game you guys need as a trade?

I actually know someone who has a copy of this...

It is a bit rubbish to be honest.

Yeah, the idea is actually really sound and it has a fair bit of replayability as you try and get more of the reporters to survive. I think there's one that always dies as part of the plot (but my mate reckons there is a way to save her too). However, the plot is retarded.

Sorry couldn't be more helpful but I've only ever seen one copy and that belongs to this guy who has every weird import you can imagine (he has a game where you have to fly a helicopter and follow a giant, bikini wearing woman).

Haha... I can't remember the name of it but it was published by D3 (thems of the Earth defense Force fame) and only released in Japan.

I didn't get to play it but from the back of the box it seemed to have been purely designed for game playing teenagers who still watched Baywatch and that couldn't buy/download real porn yet.

From what I've read Michigan seems to be similar in that vein. Like it's a survival horror game, yet you get extra points for spending your time taking pictures of extreme gore and scoping out the best upskirts? How does that work together?

I guess I'm mostly attracted because it's a Suda 51 game.

The game seemed to be a bit like Night trap on the Mega CD, meets Pokemon snap with a bit of point and click involved in it.

You have to aim at the mutants/alien things to get the reporter to fight them and also get good shots of stuff happening, like people getting killed (or not).

I liked the concept but the guy who carries the boom mic is constantly babbling about stuff and he got a bit annoying. I must stress that I wasn't actually playing and that can often affect how I feel about plots.

I would say that if you can pick up for cheap then it you won't have wasted your money entirely as it does make for a great conversation piece (I pulled it out of mate's collection and went 'What the f**k?' He then put it on and we chatted about it and the comparisons with other games, the beer flowed freely).

Sorry to bring this up again, but has any of the European members seen a copy of this game around your town?

I'd love to buy it from you.

I scourged what I could while I was visiting Paris two months back, but I couldn't find a copy. Swap Magic sure works like a charm though.

Yeah I've seen that, but I wouldn't pay that much. Everyone once and a while it appears on Ebay UK, and once I won a copy for a 8 pounds about a year ago and then the seller refused to send anything to the USA. Oh Well.

And if Amazon UK had a good price, they don't ship video games to the United States for whatever reason, even though you can buy books, movies, and music CDs to your heart's desire and have them sent anywhere you want.

Well, the thing is, I think on all those Amazon UK listings, they are also only selling the French version with the French manual, and I'd like to have the English manual version, even though all European copies of the game have an English option. There's another listing for the same item on Ebay.fr for 13 Euros which is a much better price, but eh... I can keep looking.

Thank you for offering the help though!

I actually got a copy of this game recently, I kinda like that it has Resident Evil 1 "good" acting and that it's so cheesy! X3

The game has three ways to score points:

-Suspense: Just be a good reporter and film suspenseful stuff, like the reporter when she talks, ghosts, special documents...

-Erotics: You get this by filming, well... the obvious! You can films the reporter's undies, film her in the shower, film dirty mags...

-Immoral: Remember when you saw on TV a reporter film someone in need of help and not doing anything? That's what you have to do... Also, you can ram into your reporter...

Getting a high enough score in any of these departments gets you a special unlockable, but EU version is borked and you can NOT access the movie gallery...:fart:

On my first try I managed to get the first reporter I got to live through the WHOLE game! WOOHOO!

Unless payment is an issue (which I don't think it would be, because ebay would probably do the conversion for you) you could just get a thumb's address, buy it yourself and ship it to their address.

Ah, I actually decided to not buy this game a short time after the thread, especially at the extravagant prices it was selling at when I started this thread.

I thought this was a thread about thumbs from MI! Am I the only one? But now I remember hearing about this game before.
