ysbreker Posted August 7, 2007 Apparently it just launches from the browser and will not actually run from within the browser. according to eurogamer.
DanJW Posted August 7, 2007 I'd expect to see a browser based matching service as well, to make the whole 'find a game to join' process more user friendly. Even on consoles I think that's something that occasional gamers find scary.
Wrestlevania Posted August 16, 2007 As far as the [Quake Zero] technology goes it's Quake 3, but it's modified to have a front-end in a web-browser where you launch the game. And they've already done a lot of the architectural work - the way the game loads - where it's primarily just shifting the file structures and everything, but the game loads very very quickly, so basically you've never played it on a given machine, you can go to the web-browser, click 'play' and almost instantly get into a game.... It'll be launched from a web browser. It's not going to be written in Java or really running in the web browser. Ah well--probably for the best. Also, going by other snippets of info throughout the interview, I'd say browser-based matchmaking is pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point. Which is an excellent mechanic (if true).
