Hi thumbs new and old!

Just figured I'd sign up for the idleforums in celebration of the return of the best Video game podcast on the net.

Feel free to add me on Steam people (my Steam id is Benghiskhan).

Hello friends. I was convinced to join the Lords Management Consortium via the podcast, and have now been convinced to join the Idle Forums as well. It seems nice.

Hello mysterious thumbs.

My name is Leo, I'm a plant biology student at Aberystwyth University (UK), and I think video games are interesting/magical. Please be nice to me, I believe I can bring a new and very specific botanical perspective to video game discussion. For example, Far Cry 2 is great, but why instead of burning the grass can I not selectively cross different grass species to create a new wheat variety? The patent could then be handed over to a farmers' co-op, allowing for a production surplus which could be sold to neighboring states. This would increase stability in the region, encouraging foreign investment to come in the form of mineral prospecting, not angry mercenaries that hate me. This money could then be spent on infrastructure (reducing jeep careening incidents), health care (solving the malaria problem) and education (allowing from the gradual development of non-agrarian industries). The Jackal would move on to a less stable region stemming the flow of weapons and reducing the risk of future violence. That said, burning things is fun and what would roll down hills in place of grenades?

^^^^ wow I actually dreamt of this but less geopolitically and more clinically, weird stuff!

Maybe the game we really want is Harvest Moon with guns.

Well my dream was set in the same nondescript Africa as Far Cry, but instead of gathering diamonds you where combating disease by harvesting information from tests you made on villagers, animals and flora which you then used to design ailments in your laboratory. Like Spacecop-CDC employed by Pfizer I think.

Well.

hello.

i'm new here. can't wait for the book podcast: the book podcast. just started the sense of an ending and am really liking it so far.

the only far cry 2 dream i ever had was not so rational: i was a local (unarmed) trying to find my fellow villagers while desperately avoiding the local militia and crazed mercs. it was very scary and very lonely and my old dog had something to do with it too. i never even finished the game because i got about two thirds in and the save corrupted. i started again and got about halfway before it did it again. one day.

Hello all here! I am from Stockholm, Sweden. I love games and game design.

Favorite moments in gaming is, among many things, the super early coop dungeon crawler "Hired Guns". Four person hotseat. Two on keyboard, one on mouse and one on joystick. Real time madness in a futuristic sci-fi setting, with robots, rocket launchers and friendly fire. It was developed by DMA Design, the makers of greatness like Lemmings and Walker. Check it out!

I have recently become a real fan of the podcast and hope to hang out here. It seems to be a great place!

Hello everyone,

My first time on the forums, but have been an Idle Thumbs listener since 2009. I've been a gamer since the understanding of a controller and only in the last 8 years have I been a die hard PC gamer. I found the Idle Thumbs podcast when I used to commute to work by train (4 hours a day on the train is a long time) I had always wanted to participate at events like PAX or E3, and attend the meetups with the thumbs crew, but as I live in Japan it was kind of a hard sell to my wife. This year was very lucky to be returning home to Vancouver, Canada just in time for PAX Prime, and lucky me was able to get a ticket. I hope to have a chance to meet everyone if there is a meetup this year.

Hope this was enough for a hello.

Hooray for science! I was in Wales for the first time ever yesterday for the GB vs Korea match at Millennium Stadium. Didn't enjoy the 3 hour trek back to Berkshire in England afterwards!

I am Bernbaum, real name Josh. Been listening to Idle Thumbs since around the start of the 'second season' aka 'The Idle Thumbs Podcast' aka 'Congrats Nick Breckon, hello Steve'. Listened to every episode at least twice.

Found out about the Thumbs from NeoGAF, which is an okay forum if somewhat too serious at times.

Video games make me happy. I play almost exclusively on handheld systems and enjoy deep single-player adventure games and simple mindless puzzle games.

Not going to list my favourite games, but it is very important that everyone knows that Meteos on the DS is a deeply loved game of mine.

Also I'm a geologist. I was once a palaeontologist, inspired by a childhood love of Jurassic Park, but not anymore.

You really captured the Goldblum there.

I never did research on dinosaurs, but I have assisted in the excavation of Cretaceous Dinosaurs in Australia. Fun times. It's not too different from the opening shot at the beginning of the scene where Hammond meets Grant and Sattler. Less shotgun blasts off course...

Hello all,

I'm Ethan from China, glad to see you! I'm an avid gamer and work for an indie games developer. My favorite ARPG games are Batman: Arhkam City and The Witcher 2 because they are the best action rpgs I've ever played. Speaking of MMORPG, I've played WoW for a long time, and now I'm anticipating the new upcoming pack. Lie to Me was my favorite TV series, unfortunately, I don't have the chance to watch Season 3.

Oh hey I never noticed this thread.

I'm I_smell and I've made like 20 posts. They're all confusing word-mazes becuase that's like my favourite thing about Idle Thumbs. I've been here since exactly episode 6, and also I backed the Kickstarter. Idle Thumbs is the only podcast I go back and listen to old episodes of, because it's so not about what games are CURRENTLY coming out, that each episode is as irrelevant today as when it was recorded. Which makes it easy to listen to old ones.

I make games, like probably a tonne o people here do, and my last game was the first one I charged money for, came out last year, wasn't great,

'll be a lot better.

I'm super into cartoons, and also podcasts.

Incase you didn't notice though I'm already super involved in like a hundred other sites, so don't expect much from me.

I'm thinking maybe I'll come here to talk about video games though, cos every other video game forum is depressing as hell.

I'm gonna go look for a thread where anyone's talking about the Double Fine documentary now, cos I can't get over how good it is.

Oh hi I didn't see you there,

My name's @NeilCastle and I'm a 6 year games industry vet. I'm currently working as a Community Manager but I've moving to a designer role at the end of year. I currently work for @OutplayEnt a social and mobile games company located in Dundee Scotland but I've previously worked for Realtime Worlds, Warner Brothers, SEGA & Splash Damage.

I've been a huge fan of Thumbs for years but only just decided to register on the forums after the Mototcycle Club discussion.

I'm also developing a third person roguelike in my spare time called BRIG.

Hello :) This is my first post! I've come here because many other mice have told me that this forum contains smart folks with lustrous heads full of gameygoodness. It's been a while since I've been part of a forum actively, so I may be a bit rusty at this whole socialising thing! Please be gentle ^-^

Hello Idle Forums... I have been here on and off, a long time ago... then I sort of fell off the internet, and stopped frequenting any sort of forums.... but with the podcast back, and so much talk reminding me how awesome this place is I have decided to make it a habit of reading this place again... and I might try and actually post sometimes as well this time...
