miffy495 Posted December 14, 2006 So: It's out. Anyone tried it yet? I'm interested, but my birthday is a week away and Christmas is right after that, so I'm holding off on making any purchases until post-boxing day. From IGN's review it sounds like it has an almost Katamari vibe to it, which is actually making me consider getting it for a friend for Christmas. He and his girlfriend have introduced me to people in the past as "This guy has the best collection of games that you've never heard of" and it would seem fitting that I get them something enjoyable that they've never heard of. Problem is, I won't be able to play it before getting it for them, so I won't have any first hand knowlege of whether it really is that enjoyable. So yeah. What's the word? People liking/disliking/indifferent to the game? It's one I've been keeping an eye on for a while and I'd like to hear what the thumbs think.
Tommy Gun Posted December 18, 2006 Well I don't even have a Wii yet , but I've seen a bunch of videos of Elebits and it looks fun. One of the best parts though: Edit mode! There are some YouTube videos of it, if you haven't seen them. People are already doing Rube Goldberg stuff, just like Garry's mod with HL2. Unfortunately you have to trade levels with friend codes, rather than a central database. Still, maybe there will be a fansite with lists of friend codes of people who are willing to send levels or something (limit of one send per day I think, double ). miffy495 Posted December 18, 2006 Well, as the last time I'm seeing this friend before Christmas is tomorrow, I went ahead and got it for him already. Hope he gets into it, but if it's as you say then it should be safe. He's been crazy over Garry's mod since day one, and he's always designing new creations in it when he gets the chance. I figured a game that's essentially a gravity gun mixed with Katamari would be a good bet, and fingers are crossed. Now to wait until the new year when I'll have the cash to get it for myself. Tommy Gun Posted December 20, 2006 GAF seems to really like it, for what that's worth, heh. I love the whole "trash the whole house" concept, although in later levels they restrict what you can do. If he likes Garry's mod, then I can't imagine he'll be disappointed -- even if he doesn't like the main game.
ysbreker Posted December 21, 2006 Somehow eurogamer doesn't really seem to like it :/ http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=71173
nsps Posted January 2, 2007 I got it and I think the big problem is that it begs comparison to Katamari, but isn't good enough for such high standards. It's the same gather-more-power-to-lift-larger-objects setup, but the gameplay is basically FPS, although it seems to work OK. I'll play a little more, and update everyone.
