MrChlorophyll Posted March 7, 2006 "Rumble Box is a fast paced 3D action beat-em-up with a unique premise: all of the characters are made of simple objects which stay around in the level even after the character is defeated. The objects pile up, changing the gameplay landscape and altering your combat tactics. The game takes place inside a giant box, and the ultimate goal of the game is to pile up enough defeated enemies to get out of the box." http://phackett.com/rumblebox/ This is a wickedly fun little game. Gets a little hard to tell what's going on with a lot of debris, but definitely entertaining.
miffy495 Posted March 9, 2006 Just had a chance to check it out. Quite entertaining, though it's mostly been a button mash so far. I may work out some strategies eventually, but for now it'll just join the ranks of shortcuts to little free games on my desktop. *examines desktop* hmmm... apparently these little free games now outnumber actually retail games. This says something profound, but I'll be damned if I know what exactly that is.
Lechimp Posted March 9, 2006 hmmm... apparently these little free games now outnumber actually retail games. This says something profound, but I'll be damned if I know what exactly that is. People like stuff that's free?
MrChlorophyll Posted March 10, 2006 I only like $60 games from EA. I buy every single Madden and Sims expansion they release. Now excuse me while I cut off and burn my fingers for typing that.
miffy495 Posted March 10, 2006 People like stuff that's free? ...except I actually play these more often as well. Parsec 49 has seen so much more action than Half Life 2. Warning Forever is enjoyed far more frequently than Freelancer. These purchased games are very good, but not played that often. I could go on, but don't really want to. ysbreker Posted March 10, 2006 what free games do you play then, miffy? I'm curious to see what you can get for free
miffy495 Posted March 11, 2006 A lot of the ones I spend the most time with are here: ABA Games Tumiki Fighters and Parsec 49 are great old-school shmups, and Tumiki even adds some Katamari-esque weirdness in that you can take components of your opponents' ships and absorb them into your own. If you're good, you'll create a giant clump of fighter-death that looks like it was just rolled by the prince. Also, I play a bunch of Warning Forever. There's more, but those are really the ones that keep me coming back. Nice, simplistic, addictive arcade-y games that are great when you're just looking to kill 5-10 minutes rather than spend 3 hours looking for the next wave of whatevers to shoot. elmuerte Posted March 11, 2006 Ugh.. the difficulty curve of this game is way to steep. PS, somewhere in the near future a public demo of Spheroid will come out: http://www.op-games.com/games.html That game is great fun, it's sort of a "clone" of Puzzle Bobble but much more fun.
