Majesco promotion for Bloodrayne

Recommended Posts

I thought this might be of interest, given that we probably all want Psychonauts to be promoted well. It seems Majesco has pulled out all the stops for its other major game, BloodRayne 2.

EDISON, N.J., September 30, 2004 –Majesco (OTC BB: MJSH), a provider of diversified applications and content for digital entertainment platforms, today confirmed that BloodRayne 2 has gone gold and is on schedule for release October 12. Majesco is supporting the launch of BloodRayne 2 with a multi-million dollar marketing campaign that includes extensive cross-promotions with MTV, targeted TV and print advertising and a consumer pre-sell initiative.

“BloodRayne’s popularity has transcended video games and emerged in other entertainment mediums including films, comic books and TV,” said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing. “Our campaign is focused on maximizing these synergies to gain additional traction with the mass-market audience, as well as reach the core video game audience.”

Majesco’s creative marketing campaign looks to build that recognition even further with such initiatives as:

§ High-profile cross-promotional partnership with MTV2 celebrating the launch of BloodRayne 2 that includes:

o BloodRayne 2/Headbangers Ball Launch Event on October 21, 2004 from the House of Blues in Los Angeles;

o Taping of a special October 30th Halloween edition of MTV2’s Headbangers Ball from the BloodRayne 2/Headbangers Ball Event

o Exclusive sponsorship and integration within Headbangers Ball programming specials;

o Extensive promotional campaigns on MTV, MTV2 and MTVU;

o Online sweepstakes where one lucky winner gets to attend the party;

o Exclusive integration of BloodRayne 2 messaging around the packaging and promotion of the Headbangers Ball CD.

§ National print and online advertising campaign appearing in major video game publications, as well as targeted lifestyle publications including FHM, WWE Smackdown and DC Comics;

§ Exclusive pre-sell program at Electronics Boutique and GameStop whereby consumers who pre-order a copy of the game will receive a BloodRayne Collector’s Edition Comic Book Preview;

§ A movie adaptation of BloodRayne is currently filming with Kristanna Loken (T3: Rise of the Machines) portraying the title character, and Academy Award winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi) playing her father, Kagan. Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs), Michelle Rodriguez (SWAT) and Ben Davis (Pearl Harbor) also star;

§ A specially created music video debuted on MTV2’s new “Video Mods” program where BloodRayne performed Evanescence’s “Everybody’s Fool;”

§ Appearance in Playboy’s “Women of Gaming” in the October issue;

§ BloodRayne: Skies Afire comic book by Echo 3 scheduled for December;

§ BloodRayne 2 video game demo to appear on the Official Xbox Magazine’s demo CD for November

§ Official BloodRayne 2 strategy guide by Brady Books will be available at launch;

§ BloodRayne 2 September cover feature in the video game magazine, Play;

§ Creation and launch of BloodRayne2.com web site to keep more than 100,000 subscribers updated on the game.

I will in fact tolerate significant levels of cheesy marketing tie-ins for Psychonauts, and hope that the game will get at least a few such promotions. I'm not suggesting Raz should appear in Playboy, but clearly Majesco PR seems to have some good ideas.

I acutally played bloodrayne once.

It was a rather sad thirdperson shooter where you play a 'hot' chick with bumpmapped pants. It is good for some mindless vampiric bloodsucking action tho :)

You can pcik it up REAL cheap in some stores nowadays. I'm talking about 10 euros cheap.

I've played it too, and it seemed exhaustingly mediocre in the levels I played. Which really raises the question why there's all of a sudden such a ludicrous hype surrounding the sequel? Surely the first game wasn't such a success? I first favoured Bloodrayne because it seemed to have kind of an underdog feel, but this then appears to destroy even that last redeeming feature ;)

The first game actually sold half a million copies, again because Majesco really pushed it a lot (partly because it was Majesco's first big-budget title).

first game was actually kind of amusing - in a total lowest-common-denominator tits/guns/gore type way.

slice nazis with blades, shoot them lots, suck their blood, listen to the distinctly salacious noises Ms. Rayne makes when engaged in aforementioned sucking..

activate rage mode or whatever it was, and slice in slow motion! while cartwheeling! and making more dodgy noises! yay!

BR2 looks like a dead cert for more of the same. I'll be Rayne's breasts somehow become larger though :shifty:
