Things to look forward to?

Recommended Posts

The page for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 is up and release is 27 of january, however it only the japanese and traditional chinese version - which is much like what happened with Nobunaga, which showed first with the version for Asia and later the english version did show up. So I wonder how much time it will take until (and if) for the RoTK english version (which still appear on the steam database - https://steamdb.info/sub/65231/). I guess, that somewhere after Arslan: Warriors of Legend, which is due next month and also begin ported to pc and is promoted up and down by Koei (that port came out of nowhere, not that I am complaning, as I am a big fan of the anime).

On other news, Disgaea, a SRPG, is coming to pc in the next month, the version is the Hour of Darness (the first game) plus the expansion Afternoon of Darkness along with some new stuff (such as improved graphics).

Nice, I loved Disgaea, but had a harder time getting through Disgaea 2, and have totally stalled on Disgaea 3. Having it on computer instead of PS3 would be huge.

Warhammer Total War seems to be coming along nicely, I have pre-ordered it so heres hoping it doesnt suck. At least I will have two fun games of destroying everything as Chaos and Orcs.

Pre-ordering a CA game? You're braver than I am!

Mostly pre-ordering because its a GW adaptation. I am a sucker for non-miniature Warhammer stuff. I feel like after they fixed Rome 2 and Atilla, maybe they know what they are doing again?

Plus campaign playable Chaos are free for pre-order but will be a DLC for everyone else.

Yeah but in 6months - 1 year, you'll be able to buy it for peanuts will all DLC included :) That's my usual take on CA games. it takes me so long to get round to playing them properly anyway...

I will preorder too in the next weeks, as is things looking up. If the worst happen, there still steam refunds, but I am confident from what I have been seeing around.

Anyway...

To keep on topic - did anyone remember Oriental Empires? they will do a close beta, all you need to do is sign in the Iceberg-Games website (www.icebergs-games.com).

Also, Star Ruler 2 will get a new expansion. I bought that game in steam sale, and do have some mixed feelings about it....I liked the battle and lots of stuff, such as the diplomacy using cards, but I felt that playing with any species, make absolute no difference at all.

Rome 2 left me with some bad taste but even then I ended up getting some good value out of that mess... I'm very tempted to pre-ording this thing to shave few $$$ off those factions.

Really hoping for something closer to 1 than 2, but I expect it will follow the CoH trendlines. Basebuilding C&C style RTS seems pretty dead these days :(

Funny cause DoW2 had less base building than CoH yet that was one of the big complaints about it.  Really looking forward to DoW3.  The campaign for the second wasn't the best, but the multiplayer was hands down the best RTS PvP experience I've ever had.  Sadly most people ignored it.  It struck a great balance where you were typically only using 5-8 units at a time.  Allowed you to take the time to make use of the mechanics without feeling that it was too much to control a la CoH2 and SC2.  Always felt it was much better than the little attention it received.

Factorio is a pretty interesting game that I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk about.  (http://store.steampowered.com/app/427520/)  I'm not big on the Minecraft-like games, but the layers of complexity of the game really make it interesting.  Fine tuning an assembly line is surprisingly addictive.  It has a fair amount of push back from the aliens that will attack you, but the various game modes allow you to disable that if you just want to focus on building.

And it is confirmed, Dawn of War 3.

To early to say anything, but I guess I we will have both large armies (and maybe base build too?) with heroes.

Some links with a few bits of info.

TITANS!

If this some kind of Dawn of War crossed with Supreme Commander I will die happy.

My dream of a Master of Orion style 40k game where combat is resolves in LoMa matches has died today. In it's place a searing flame of 40k hype has ignited that will consume me whole until dow3 is released.

I really enjoyed the DoW2 campaign with just a few units, but I feel like it should almost be a different genre of game. It feels closer to Diablo than Warcraft to me. At this point, I'd try either style of game.

That was unexpected.... specially coming this year...

Anyway, the "formation" feature looks curious, much of the congestion in Civ V was caused by the map begin smaller that the scale needed to feature a large number of units. I am not sure how moving several of them at the same time and plus terrain will work out.

It sounds like they will stack actually, but only the same units and a limited number. I wonder if the new city stuff will be more or less tedious than late game city building in 5

Koei annouced that they will bring the Nobunaga´s Ambition - Ascension to PS4 and PC (steam) in 24th of Out.

https://twitter.com/KoeiTecmoUS/status/761547943761448960

It is a standalone version of NOA with a new "Office Play" where you can play the role of a officer in the period with (from what I understand) some roleplay systems. Also it will add naval and siege battles.

Talking about this games... I have been playing the ROTK XIII which now does have a english version. It is really good, but in some aspect not so polished as NOA, still there is the huge focus in individual characters, I mean,  it is almost The Sims levels, you often have to visit officers, talk to them several times, help them in what ever they are doing and so on.
