My name is Twig which when people get mad enough leads to dick jokes at my expense but I don't really care. I mean, obviously I don't care, because it's utterly meaningless. But I do care about slurs. Sometimes I try to engage with people using slurs all willy nilly and it almost never works out. If I ask them to stop being racist, they ask if I'm black or Arab or whatever the race is they're being shitty about*. If I ask them to stop being sexist or homophobic they ask me if I'm a woman. Then they say it's just a joke. If I answer the question with no, they just say, "well then it doesn't matter to you". I've experimented and said yes on occasion and then they just fucking double-down on the bullshit. Every once in a while, in a blue moon, I get someone who apologizes and says they'll try to be better about it in the future. I cherish those moments. But they're so few and far between that I've basically given up and now just mute people. *(Actually, Mexican shit comes up a lot because people conflate Peruvians and Brazilians and Mexicans and a lot of Peruvians and Brazilians will jump on the US servers in Dota 2. I'm constantly frustrated with people who refuse to speak English after queuing on an English-speaking server (it's a box you have to actually check!), but fuck I never make it about race even when my fuse does burn out.)

Not to mention alternate skins for Bowser Jr. in Smash 4. And I think they're all in the newest Mario Kart.

I hate dual-stick shooter controls more than anything else in all of my life. I adamantly refuse to play most games like that because I know it'll just be a never-ending exercise in frustration.

I've only played single-player so far! I don't actually plan to play multiplayer until I finish the campaign thing. Hopefully last night was just bad and when I play tonight it won't make me nauseous as heck.

There are people who love that movie, though. I've met them in real life! I haven't play Life Is Strange, yet, but that does sound a little too on-the-nose.

See everyone likes the motion controls! But I literally had to physically stop playing and I'm pretty sure it's because of the weird camera movements freaking my brain out our something. Ugh.

I was gonna try to get used to the motion controls even though they're incredibly frustrating because people seem to like them. But then I got motion sickness from playing this game. I think it's because of the jerky-ass movement from swinging that tablet around. Also my external hard drive is like really noisy it's stressing me out. I think it might be dying.

I can because this looks seven years old. ZING! Yeah I just zinged my own joke. So what!

I want an XCOM game where you're a civilian trying to get the fuck out when a battle goes down. I want an XCOM game where you're the aliens. I want an XCOM game where you're managing the science and research and commands come down from on high and you have to fulfill the requirements. ... I also want this kind of stuff for lots of other games. I don't understand people who are against exploring a universe with different types of games. Hell, give me a slapstick comedy story in the XCOM world and the next year release the Battlestar Galactica of XCOM. I don't even care! Give me all of it.

I don't even wanna get paid to write. I just wanna write for myself. BUT! I'm lazyyyyyyyy and lack motivationnnnnnnnnn.

Haha yeah I don't much like it either, it's a little too much fan service for something Twin Peaks related. Hopefully TP2016 doesn't fall into that trap.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Twig replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
You might be able to. I was thinking about it for Stubbs the Zombie, but then I decided not to bother, since I probably paid less than five bucks for it anyway. -
haha YEAH EXACTLY!

wow that is a fuckload of space I... I am jealous.

On the whole, I agree with you, but I think most people against Brothers' representation of women are not complaining about the fact that the two leads are male, but rather that all of the [important, plot-relevant] women that do exist are shitty one-dimensional tropes. Which is a fair complaint and not one that I've ever disagreed with, but it didn't ruin the game for me (which, as I've stated before, I thought was fantastic).

I've decided that people with strong opinions about thing are the worst so I'm just going to consume flavorless food cubes and stop listening to music and quit video games and only watch movies without sound or color or movement until the day I die.

Remember how they also streamed it on repeat for the rest of E3, or something absurd? God it was so glorious.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

I dunno I'd say it's a pretty huge step. Also important is that the 14 days apply to post-launch, too, if you preorder a game. So if you preorder 14 days in advance you still have 14 days after it's out to get a refund. IMO it looks like they thought it through pretty well. There is some valid concern in that a lot of indie games can be completed in under two hours, which could lead to people buying a game, beating it, and getting a refund. Which I agree is possible. Buuut, I think that they'll be the minority, and people who would do that would most likely just be pirating the game instead. I dunno, we'll see. -

I'd like a Telltale game in the XCOM universe. I'd also like a new Bureau game to take that idea and clean it up. I love expanding a world with new types of experiences. BIG fan of it. People who get mad about that kind of thing... make me mad. Anyway! I'm with Bjorn on this one.

Haha, well, I mean, I don't really write ever (much as I like to, I don't feel the inspiration, and I've never gotten into the habit of doing it regularly). That's all I really meant. If I ever felt I was good enough, or had people tell me I was good enough. People who aren't just the type of people who say everything I do is great. Ahem. Anyway, yes, I do have a personal blog that I'm not using!

That's the kind of writing I'd like to do because it looks fun, but then again I wouldn't expect to get paid for it, because I'm not a writer. Maybe I'll just start doing it for funsies and see where it goes.
