  1. Team Fortress 2 Co-op! Mann vs. Machine

The day I stand next to a filthy Blu player and not kill them is... well probably the day I start playing TF2 again which will be when this gets released.
  2. Idle Hooves: CLOP

The first time I played QWOP it seemed like the only way to play was to make the little man seizure his way through, but practice and some pretty amazing gamers have proven that wrong. I originally assumed CLOP was the same way, someone with enough proficiency would be able to make a pretty flawless looking run through with a horse; you're saying that it is outright impossible. So, all I was asking was that are we sure it's not possible or have the controls and nuances just not been mastered yet? I think the current argument of no one's done it for a week old game isn't really enough for me to dismiss that the horse simply cannot run more elegantly.
  3. Idle Hooves: CLOP

Can't be played any other way or does everyone who's tried just suck?
  4. Idle Hooves: CLOP

What I meant that it wasn't very elegant; he didn't triumphantly gallop his way through, it was stuttered and he dragged his hind quarters along some of the way, which is "gaming" a system... but again I guess that's the way this wasn't meant to be played and you can't actually flawlessly gallop like you could flawlessly run in QWOP?
  5. Plug your shit

I always forget to check back on Banter, but that thanks for those who voted or even took the time to check it out; much appreciated. @ Thunderpeel: Damn, I've fallen in that trap a lot where I google something for hours, can't find it, start making it, and then a week later find it within seconds and less sloppy. I haven't watched the Simpsons in, possibly, a decade, the look\quality of the drawings look so foreign to me now. I see the old, shittier versions and feel more comfort in something I've seen a billion times.... I guess this is what old age feels like?
  6. Hm, that all does sound fishy, maybe send the link the Rolfe and Matie and they can sort it out with kickstarter if it turns out it's just a scam?
  7. Ah that's cool then and apparently I can't read the first line of his post, lol. Sorry man.
  8. Isn't this post classified as advertising? Are we allowing that here or does this stuff belong in Plug your shit thread? Also, I did the same thing Rodi, I figured it was city building in steam punk or something.
  9. Idle Hooves: CLOP

Can the game be completed where you move through it at a consistent pace and and galloping triumphantly? I assumed that's how it should work, like QWOP did once you got in a rhythm. Completing it is impressive, but he "gamed" his way through.
  10. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

The "wii" was a console and mainly in a different market than the ps3 and 360, so why not this? The costs associated with one platform aren't entirely the same as another nor are they "competing" with the others because their "console" is specialized, niche, system. And as I mentioned, it's an out of the box components stuck in a case with a controller and an OS... 8.5 mil seems like enough to deliver that, especially when most of that money pretty much came from pre-orders, so they have somewhat of an audience already. Not to defend this, because I still think it's a dumb product and a misleading campaign, but to compare it to the xbox launch with the mindset that they are both trying to achieve the same goals seems misplaced.
  11. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

I think looking at this thing like it's another xbox isn't quite the way to do it. I see it as an out of the box PC with a custom OS and service. With that money and all the smoke and mirrors of this campaign, I can bet they've made their money to be happy.
  12. Sounds like a collectors/cult following kind of thing where it attracts a niche group that is willing to pay for it. Like watching a really really terrible movie. (ex: Trolls 2) Not surprising and it's not like everything on kickstarter is an innovative, brilliant, serious idea; we're not forced to participate in whatever they have going on so I'm not even going to bat an eye at this, or really care either way... I've seen worse ideas make more money on that site.
  13. Return of the Rise of the Triads

Sounds solid. Yeah, okay, it's easy to make fun of a video game story made pre-HL (well it's easy to make fun of most video game stories post HL too) but I think that's the point of the distaste in remaking it... it's just too dumb. It's like trying to recreate 80s comedies, they were great for their era, but it can't be done again, that time has passed.
  14. Chris Crawford kickstarts a new game

It's free and yet we still don't get it as part of backing it? What horse shit. The game actually sounds pretty interesting, though I have a feeling I'd like it more if it wS exactly what they described but not trying to teach me something... Ill be playing it more for the hilarious results. That aside, it's a cool subject and think I'll kick a few bucks their way. Edit: played the alpha and have some more thoughts on it, but it's what figured out above. I'll go into detail tomorrow when I'm not typing on my phone.
  15. Psychonauts

The game did fight between adventure game and platformer, but honestly the platformer bits were the least interesting to me.
  16. Psychonauts

Something bugged me about waterloo world... I'm not sure what it was. Milkman Conspiracy was a high light and was really remember falling in love right around black velvet, might have been the music and the crazy neon lights. I just loved the summer camp, the brilliance of the PA announcements, the feel of being at summer camp with a cast of characters. One of my favorite rooms as the game progresses is in the lodge where everyone was watching TV... I just wanted to live in that world. We've discussed this before, but the sequel in my head is about a Psychonaughts Academy that is Bully-esq with art direction inspired from Coraline (there was that one Theatre scene in the movie where I thought "holy shit this was from psychonaughts!"). I'm sure whatever they have planned will be far more original and very cool.
  17. Return of the Rise of the Triads

Actually I had no idea it was remade and after thinking about it the example isn't a very good one. When I wrote it I imagine someone making a third person action game with a realistic art style for a Burger Time remake which is why I used to for an example. I'm sure there's a better one out there, but that's how RoT felt.
  18. Uplay

Only reason why I didnt pick up Conviction during the sale, its just too much hassle.
  19. Fresh Indie Game Compendium Extraordinaire

CLOP By: https://twitter.com/bfod Available: Browser: http://www.foddy.net/CLOP.html Synopsis: It's QWOP but with a unicorn.
  20. Return of the Rise of the Triads

Agreed, it would be like trying to make a Burger Time remake... it just can't be done anymore. I will say though, for serious sam, that side scroller game that came out was actually pretty cool and think that's where a surreal shooter could still exist. The fact it looked like that bad pop art from the 70s (similiar to Aqua Teen Hunger Force) really reinforced the wacky concept.
  21. Return of the Rise of the Triads

I really don't understand this. Apogee Software? What's the fuzz with that? Rise of the Triads? Was that actually any good or was it just fun because I thought it was rad when I was 10?
  22. Glad to immediately hear about the acknowledgement of Rampart... it was great, I played it on the snes.
  23. Roguelikes

I thought I would love FTL, but I had to try it on that streaming system so it really just turned me off. Is there a better demo somewhere I can install on my pc? I figured I should give it another shot. edit: nevermind I remembered something called google exists. lol. I'll just have to wait.
  24. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

Holy crap! I'm excited about this more than most games. Basically it's this and Sim City 5. I really hope they do expand it by quite a bit and not just jazz up the interface, give us new portraits and such. Also, needs more space turtles.
  25. Castle Story

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about over funding right now. This will always cost more than projected so having some leeway is fine; though should be anticipated in the original budget. More money equals more time which means more polish, so that's good, but I feel when people start a kickstarter they are proposing a plan in a genuine manner. I'd like to take that a face value and give them those parameters they set themselves to make the project. If it turns out they need more money maybe a second kick starter or something? In Shafers case I don't think many people would question why they could do with it, he's already running a business, everything is set up to reevaluate and change the project. With indie guys, I can't say the same. From the proposal and materials available I'd gather these are right out of school, they're in Montreal so if they have experience it's likely at ubisoft or ubisofts affiliate school, but where does the extra money go? It's a lot trust for two guys with an idea. Even the thumbs received way more than they were asking, but in their case, it's a bit different since it wasnt going to a project persay, but operating costs, more money hopefully equals they'll be operating longer. The publishing side is pretty shitty, yes, but its not without good ideas, like keeping an eye on budget and giving it to people who know how to manage it. Maybe transparency in the expenses to backers would be helpful, but it's not like you can pull out your investment at that point if you're unhappy... So who knows. **** Aside from that, this looks like it might be neat, but they are putting a lot of effort into branding that horrible looking yellow blob man, which already makes me wonder, so I'll just wait and buy it at retail.
