Hmm.... I picked up the whole bundle during the last Steam sale, and I'm already having problems getting through Deponia. (Seriously Tanukisune, were d you get the time to get through all those games.) Even with Deponia I notice rather shitty audio, the footsteps are simply broken, and the puzzles are not well thought out, it's Simon the Sorcerer grade puzzles.

Not trueish. It was a royal pain into the future. The PS3 is ahead of its time for "regular" programming. The whole cell architecture is aimed at streamable porgramming. Procedural programming, which is dominant, isn't well suited for that. Functional programming however is, but this is really really different from procedural programming. In shader porgramming we more or less are constraint to semi functional programing. So yes, PS3 is painful, because to get the best out of it you really need a paradigm shift. I don't think anyone has done that yet, so there is still a shit load of power in the PS3 that is not being used. I think the sarcasm tags are broken. The major difference between Apple and Sony/Microsoft is that Apple has not yet screwed over theirs customers in a major way. That, and fashion, because Apple products are fashion.

Nothing special about that Thunderpeel, nothing special at all. Sadly technology has advanced so much that certain grades of retards have reached levels in society where they can do proper damage. It's one of the things that bothers me a lot. Computers (hardware and software) helped us to accelerate various tasks, so we could do various tedious things more efficiently (or not at all). But it appears that this move also affected other processes for which there is no optimization/automation yet. People spend less and less time thinking about stuff. Complex calculations can be done in seconds, so process definitions should also be done within a single meeting. Waiting 30 seconds for an operation to complete? Fuck that, I'll just F5 the shit out of it so that it will be done faster. Because performing the same operation on the same data 20 times will go faster than waiting for the first operation to finish... right...

I'm really not enjoying the James Bond reboot, and it's getting worse. Daniel Craig is more like a KGB agent, but also the artistic and story direction the movies are going to. It's not in the spirit of James Bond. I've been watching all (ION) bond movies the last few weeks. I really don't understand why they had to reboot this. They managed to continue bond for 40 years, but after that they had to reinvent it!? fuck that shit. Besides the dumb decision to reboot the series they plots of the new movies contain more holes than Swiss cheese. Since the reboot MI6 HQ has been blown up twice. ugh...

Finished the 4th one. 50% of my time was spend on fighting the camera. -
Yeah both Sony and Microsoft did, and they are trustworthy and respectable companies.

I'll add minecraft to the list. It does have a HUD, but once you're sucked in (which happens fast) the world consumes you.

But people buy $599 phones.. so why not a $599 console? Maybe they should sell them for $x/month together with some other service. In the end you probably pay $599+y but over a timespan of 1 or 2 years

For me Video games add a goal (a thing to accomplish) to the definition of interactive entertainment. It's you goal to defeat the end boss, or score the highest points, etc. There is no explicit goal in games like Dear Ester, TFoL, Proteus, COD: BLOPS; you just navigate the world and reach an end.

looks like the end of the world is going on outside

Because "more specialized" is in depth, it's not set theory like ordering.

Looks interesting... I really shouldn't put more games on my backlog, but if anyone's up for a 4 pack, I'm (video) game.

Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

But but but ...

I don't think TFoL is a Video game, but it is interactive digital entertainment (and Video games is a subclass of it)

hot scoops... it's not even on the frontpage yet -
TV shows and games are much much lighter. Especially when you compare it to proper fiction where your brain is constructing the world you are inhaling only via the letters on a page (and not audiovisually). For school we were mostly free to read what we wanted, there were just a few requirements (at least a few books for certain eras). So for English I read some Pratchett and even some King.
-
There are other things which I enjoy way more than reading books. The problem with fiction is that you cannot easily spread it out of weeks of irregular reading. And some point you more or less lost parts of the story and the whole thing starts to feel like a season of Lost. Also, I can't sit down and read a book for 2 hours straight (I either get sleepy, or my mind starts to wander due to things I read). My first experiance with Terry P's work was a Video game though, it was the first Discworld graphical adventure. After that I read a couple books for school work (if they're going to force you to read stuff you might as well read something fun).

What jobs requires a plastic pirate sword? You're a professional insult sword fighter?
-
Discworld, and pretty much all of T Pratchett's work, makes me sad I'm not really a reader of fiction. The attention to detail, the incredibly worked out jokes, absolutely awesom.
