  1. Movie/TV recommendations

Could be interesting. I think BBC's Dirk Gently series was quite entertaining at times. Stephen Mangan was nothing like I had imagined Dirk Gently to be, but I didn't really mind. I wonder who will get the leading role in the new series.
  2. I'm with this. I don't go camping very often but I like to spent time at bare bones summer cottages with my friends. We hike, swim, row and so on but we also play card and board games and listen to music when we are done with the activities for the day. It's not like the nature around you suddenly disappears when you do something like that - far from it. It blows your cards and tokens from the table, sends waves of mosquitoes at your location, and dims the lights until you can't distinguish colors anymore. And it is the best. In other news, the frame for my Firewatch posters should arrive soon!

    Wow!
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Yes, Parks and Rec is brilliant, and gets better and better after the first season.
  5. Divinity: Original Sin

Remember to reserve one button for quick save.
  6. Divinity: Original Sin

Yeah, I can't imagine playing with a gamepad being enjoyable at all. However, you don't need keyboard that much, which might be of help if you are considering a couch based setup. You occasionally need to press alt or ctrl though, so you can't ignore the keyboard completely.
  7. Divinity: Original Sin

Just beat King Boreas (more like Bore Ass if you ask me). The game crashes every time it tries to load Cyseal. Anyone else encountered this problem?
  8. New people: Read this, say hi.

I'm just glad that we are on the same page.
  9. Idle Thumbs Animated

Awesome work! I will never get tired of that accent, so I will be playing this again and again.
  10. Beyond Good and Evil 2

Apparently Ubisoft just picked The City of Metronome for their indie game publishing program.
  11. Divinity: Original Sin

Yup, that is my conclusion as well (having stolen almost every painting and gold dish I have managed get my hands on).
  12. Divinity: Original Sin

My loremaster is also a weak-backed archer and crafter which means that I have to use her to collect all the items, identify the armors and weapons and so on and then send them to appropriate character only to realize that they already have better gear. Jahan is the blacksmith so I send all the stuff that needs repairing to him. An so on.. Selling stuff is pretty painful as well with separate money stacks and inventories. I haven't even bothered checking whether one of my characters has significantly higher bartering skill (let alone whether I can temporarily boost it somehow). Also, what the hell? Loremaster can inspect enemies when pressing 'ctrl'? Agggh..
  13. Divinity: Original Sin

Yeah, it seems like killing him nets you loot, XP and closure on some of the quest stuff, but doesn't actually open up new areas or objectives or anything like that. It's nice that you can complete the quests in more or less any order you want. Then again, because the level plays such a big role in combat you can definitely approach quests in "wrong" order. For example, you are likely to have your ass handed to you if you decide to go north or east when you first arrive to Cyseal.
  14. Divinity: Original Sin

I had read a lot of comments about how insanely hard Braccus Rex boss fight can be. Because of this I feared that I would get completely obliterated and never want to play the game anymore. Turns out I beat it on my first try (!!!) thanks to my amazing skills a couple of good tips. Read only if you are frustrated or don't want to find things out the hard way:
  15. Non-video games

I adore Cosmic Encounter for multiple reasons: The basic rules and tactics are simple enough for even the beginners to get hang of it in the first round or so. Alien powers and flares constantly create interesting situations. Also due to alien powers and flares, there is no one killer tactic (that I know of) and people have to adjust all the time. Due to alliances and 'as any player' cards and powers no one has to be idle for long*. It is hard to take losing seriously because the endgame is typically completely fucked-up. I'm really happy that I bought Cosmic Encounter, based on a recommendation on this forum. Thanks! By the way, how are the expansions? * Lords of Waterdeep is nice, but damn it gets tedious if one or more of the players start "counting cards".
  16. Divinity: Original Sin

This game is shockingly good. I hate the inventory management. I will probably never finish this game.
  17. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Yup, I had to Google that as well. That.. wasn't very intuitive.
  18. Junk physics! Finally! I'm glad that they didn't go over the top with that stuff, but tried to keep it more or less realistic.
  19. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I hope Mirel Wagner's (Finnish singer born in Ethiopia) upcoming album will be a success:
  20. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Agreed. Fantastic stuff! Reminds me of the Michel Gondry's Kylie Minogue video (which was discussed in the podcast some time ago actually) in that it must have been quite stressful to set up and film.
  21. Photos of things

    Excellent work YoThatLimp!
  22. Life

The circulation of the weekly Donald Duck magazine (Aku Ankka) in Finland is roughly 300,000, which is quite amazing considering that our population (5.5 million) is some 3 times smaller than that of the Netherlands. The readership is estimated at 1 million, which makes it the most popular weekly journal in Finland.
